Podcast lovers who use Spotify to keep track of and listen to their favorite shows can take advantage of the platform’s new Podcast Charts tool to find titles that are dominating various genres and topics. As an audio-listening service that is hailed as one of the best options in terms of its recommendations algorithm, Spotify's new feature is a great jumping off point for anyone who's looking for a new podcast to listen to.

There are many ways to discover new podcasts through the Spotify app. There’s a dedicated ‘Podcasts’ tile located within the search page that has sections for newly released shows, most-listened to episodes, and other podcast suggestions arranged according to topic. Users can also make use of the app's search bar and type in a podcast name, host name, or guest name to find related episodes and shows.

Spotify's Podcast Charts tool lets users find the top-performing podcasts on the platform and filter them according to category and the country they are most popular in. The tool’s page defaults to a list of the 100 most-listened to podcasts in the United States. Podcasts that are either experiencing an upward or downward tick in listenership will have a corresponding arrow icon next to their cover image, so that users will have an idea of which titles aren’t sustaining their popularity and which ones are worth the play.

Podcast Charts is easy to navigate when accessed through a web browser. Simply pick a country from the first dropdown box to filter results according to what’s performing well in that region — there are currently 26 countries to choose from. Next, pick a list from the second dropdown. Users can check out the general lists of 100 best podcast shows and episodes regardless of genre if they want a comprehensive introduction to the joy of podcast-listening.

Listeners who know exactly what type of podcasts they want to enjoy — whether it’s to learn about new topics or stay in-tune to their current interests and obsessions — can check out a wide variety of category top lists, each containing 50 titles. Currently, there are 17 topics or podcast genres to check out, including comedy, history, news, and of course, true crime. Each entry on every podcast chart has an accompanying ‘Follow’ button that pulls the show up on Spotify so that users can add it to their library. There’s also a ‘Share’ feature that creates a fun share card that users can post on their social media accounts. A ‘Play Preview’ button will give first-time listeners a short snippet of the podcast to sample before committing to a follow.

Another way to find the top podcast charts on Spotify is by using the ‘Podcast’ genre tile in the app’s search page. Under the ‘Categories’ section should be a ‘Podcast Charts’ tile that has more in-depth lists and the same options to filter results by country or category. The ‘Top Podcasts’ and ‘Top Episodes’ charts on the Spotify app list 200 podcasts instead of only 100.
