Spotify now lets users listen to a 'Friends Mix' – a personalized playlist that's generated based on Blends created with friends. Spotify announced Blend in the summer of 2021. The feature enables users to create an auto-generated playlist with friends based on their combined listening preferences. Blend was initially introduced as a two-person playlist feature, but earlier this year, Spotify allowed users to "blend" with a group, adding up to 10 other users.

Spotify even allows users to create a Blend with their favorite artists to see what music they both love. The best part about a Blend is that it isn't a static playlist. Instead, it is updated daily to constantly reflect the changing preferences of both users. It's a fun way to see what a friend is listening to, and even discover new music in the process. Each Blend comes with custom cover art, and can even be shared across social channels.

Friends Mix is a new Spotify feature that takes Blend one step further. Unlike a Blend, this is a playlist personalized for a user. The idea, according to Spotify, is to discover new music based on what a user's friends are listening to. The only caveat with this feature is that users need to have already created Blends with their friends to see the playlist. Spotify specifies that users need to create at least three two-person Blends to see the Friends Mix playlist. Provided this has already been done, users will be able to view a Friends Mix playlist in the 'Made For Us' hub. To find this, tap the search button on the Spotify app and scroll down to the 'Browse All' section. Tap 'Made For You' to find the 'Made For Us' hub. Like a Blend, Friends Mix is also updated daily. Users can include more friends in a Friend Mix by creating Blends with them.

If the Friends Mix playlist isn't visible in the Made For You section, this probably means that a user hasn't created a Blend yet, or they haven't created a minimum of three Blends to access the feature. Creating a Blend is pretty easy. All users need to do is type 'Blend' in the search bar. Alternatively, tap 'Create A Blend' inside the Made For You section. Users can now tap the 'Invite' button to ask friends to join their Blend. This generates a link that can be shared to various social media and messaging apps. Once a friend accepts an invite, a Blend playlist will be generated for all users in a Blend.

Once the required number of Blends have been created, users should be able to see their Friends Mix playlist. Friends Mix is available to both free and Premium Spotify users around the world, and can be accessed on iOS and the desktop. Unfortunately, there's no support for Android at the moment. Unlike Blends, Friends Mix is not a shared playlist, but a personalized one created just for them. Of course, Spotify users can always choose to share their Friends Mix by tapping the Menu button on the playlist page (three dots) and hitting 'Share.' One of the best features of Spotify is how easy the platform makes it to discover music, and Friends Mix seems to be a fun way to see what other people are listening to with little to no effort.
