The star of SpongeBob SquarePants has recreated some of the most iconic memes involving the character. The long-running Nickelodeon animated show has aired for 13 seasons and a total of 277 episodes. It follows the wacky exploits of SpongeBob SquarePants, a cheerful fry cook for The Krusty Krab who lives at the bottom of the sea. While having adventures with his best friends, Patrick the dim-witted starfish and Sandy the squirrel (who wears an astronaut suit to live underwater), and annoying his cranky neighbor Squidward, he frequently manages to thwart The Krusty Krab's rival Plankton from stealing the formula for the iconic Krabby Patty.

The man behind the voice of the well-known character is Tom Kenny, a voice actor who has played many iconic characters including The Ice King on Adventure Time, The Collector on the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series, and Doctor Octopus on Ultimate Spider-Man. Kenny has held the role of SpongeBob since the show's debut in 1999, and voices the character in all the shows, movies, and video games the character is featured in, including The Patrick Star Show and Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years. In the show, he also voices the characters of Gary the Snail, the live-action Patchy the Pirate, various members of the SquarePants family, SpongeBob's iconic French narrator, and many more.

Yesterday, the official SpongeBob SquarePants Instagram account posted a series of photos to promote the final episode of this season of the SpongeBob BingePants podcast. Kenny was a guest on the episode, and it seems that at some point during the Zoom call they asked him to recreate some of the most famous memes and reaction images of the character. The post includes a side-by-side gallery of him and SpongeBob in classic poses including the rainbow "Imagination" pose, his classic Freddy Mercury-inspired rock wail, and the image of him sitting alone contemplating a cup of coffee. Given the cavalcade of memes that the character has been included in over the years, there is plenty of material for the actor to work with here. Obviously, some of the poses that SpongeBob gets into would be impossible for any human to recreate. However, Kenny gives it his best shot.

While it seems reasonable that any actor who has played the same role for so long might get tired of it, that certainly doesn't seem to be the case with Kenny. He is just as eager to engage with the wider world of SpongeBob as ever. This is great news, because the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise just keeps growing and growing, and it certainly wouldn't be the same without his inimitable voice.
