These 25 scenes from SpongeBob Squarepants were deleted from the show for a variety of reasons. Since debuting on Nickelodeon in 1999, the adventures of SpongeBob and his fellow Bikini Bottom residents has become one of the most popular animated shows on the air. The last two decades of content has also given fans of SpongeBob Squarepants an incredible amount of time with the show  which has released over 240 episodes.

Through all of these stories though, there are always moments that were left on the cutting room floor. The episodes are usually only 11 minutes long anyways, and with a rich lineup of characters that extends from SpongeBob to Patrick, Sandy, Mr. Krabs, Squidward, and Planketon, there is only so much that a single episode can fit in. For a variety of reasons, Nickelodeon and the team behind the show have removed plenty of scenes over the years.

In Screen Rant's newest video, we gathered up 25 scenes that were deleted from SpongeBob Squarepants over the last twenty years. Some of these scenes were cut due to time, while others never even made it past the storyboard phase, but all of them were at one point envisioned to be part of an episode. There's even been a few times when Nickelodeon removed scenes from the air after episodes debuted. Check out the full list of deleted scenes in the video at the top of this post.

Spongebob Squarepants, Patrick, Sandy, Mr. Krabs, and Squidward

Through the full list of deleted scenes, there are many that were rightfully removed due to the younger audience that SpongeBob Squarepants is mostly targeting. After all, kids probably shouldn't witness Squidward's face getting torn off and stitched back on as one of these scenes included. Not all of these scenes are that bad though, as one deleted scene would've shown Sandy going back home. But, sometimes Nickelodeon has to correct their own mistakes, such as the time they had to remove a scene of Squidward nearly blowing himself up thanks to the Krusty Krab's gasoline bucket security system.

These are just a few of many deleted scenes from SpongeBob Squarepants though, so die hard fans can continue to seek out the additional content online. Plenty of these scenes have been officially released, and more are likely on the way. With the series currently in its twelfth season, there are sure to be a few deleted scenes that come from this new batch of episodes. Plus, with a spinoff series in-development and the chance for more seasons of SpongeBob Squarepants still to come, there's no telling how many extra scenes we could see in the future.
