Splatoon 3 is set to release in September, and thanks to a new Splatoon 3 Direct from Nintendo, fans have a better understanding of what to expect. Ahead of the full release, the game will have a "World Premiere" demo. This Splatfest event will be called Tricolor Turf War, but it's different from the Splatfests players may be used to.

The Splatoon 3 demo will start on August 27, 2022, and on that day from 9 am to 9 pm PT players who downloaded the free pre-order through Nintendo can try out the new Tricolor Turf War Splatfest event. The free pre-order of the Splatoon 3: World Premiere is available remotely on the Nintendo site or directly from the Nintendo Switch eShop, and can be ordered now. The code itself will not be redeemable until August 25 and will expire on August 31. On August 27, from 9 am to 9 pm PT, players who have redeemed the code on their Nintendo Switch will have access to the content. It may be prudent to download that code sooner rather than later to avoid network traffic, as Splatoon 3, and by extension, Splatoon 3: World Premiere, is one of the biggest Nintendo releases of 2022.

Nintendo's Splatoon 3 Direct on YouTube hypes up the latest game of the Splatoon franchise, showing off new weapons, gear, game modes, and user conveniences. The video teases some information about the Splatoon 3: World Premiere demo at the very end. The pre-release should whet a few appetites for the newest installment of this vibrant, cartoonish take on a third-person shooter until Splatoon 3's Fall release on September 9.

Splatoon 3: World Premiere Is Going Tricolor With A Matching Theme of Three

The theme of the Splatoon 3 demo will be "Rock, Paper, Scissors", so players will choose a team according to their preference between those three options, and players who choose the same option will be teamed up. Clout from wins and inking points that are collected during the demo, as well as conch shells earned by raising levels in the catalog through battles and working shifts, will impact the final result. The final result will be carried over to Splatoon 3 once it releases.

The Splatfest event "Tricolor Turf War" will switch up previous iterations of the Turf War game mode. In Splatoon 1 and Splatoon 2, there were only two teams of four battling for splatter dominance in the Splatfest. Now in the Tricolor Turf War of Splatoon 3's online multiplayer, players are divided into three teams in the second half of the stage. The second half pits the leading team of four against two teams of two players, and the leading team must defend the center of the stage while the opposing teams come at them from opposite sides of the map.

Fans eagerly awaiting the release of Splatoon 3 have almost a full month of waiting ahead of them. Luckily, they'll have a little something to tide them over on August 27 when the Splatoon 3: World Premiere is made available. Gamers will see for themselves how much more hectic this paint-splattering game can get with a three-team mashup.
