Tom Holland reveals that he's spoken to Florence Pugh about a potential Spider-Man and Yelena crossover. First appearing as the character in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, Holland's take on Spider-Man has captured the hearts of MCU fans everywhere, most recently appearing in the critically-acclaimed Spider-Man: No Way Home. The third entry in Holland's Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy has been a big hit with fans as well, and currently holds the highest audience score on Rotten Tomatoes for any MCU movie.

While not pulling in the same box office numbers as Spider-Man: No Way Home, last summer's Black Widow introduced audiences to Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, a character that has quickly become a fan favorite. Since appearing alongside Scarlett Johansson in Black Widow, Belova has also appeared in the recent MCU Disney+ show Hawkeye. Belova's brief two-episode run on the show has been praised as one of the high points of the series and has many fans looking forward to Pugh's next outing as the Black Widow successor.

In an interview with The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show (via ComicBook), Holland reveals that he and Pugh have actually discussed the possibility of a crossover event between his Spider-Man and her Yelena. Holland expresses hope that one day the crossover will happen, but does say that the idea has not yet been pitched to any of the higher-ups at Marvel, who would be the ones to ultimately give the project a green light. Check out Holland's full comment below:

"[A Spider-Man and Black Widow II crossover] hasn't been suggested to the big bosses yet, but Florence and I have definitely spoken about it, and hopefully one day we can make that happen. That would be very cool."

Spider-Man Writers Explain Maguire, Garfield & Holland’s Bond

Following the massive success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Holland has given an array of responses regarding his future as Spider-Man, ranging from saying that it might be time for him to step away from the role to start a family, to suggesting that he's actually not ready to say goodbye to the character just yet. The new comments regarding a crossover with Pugh's Yelena suggest Holland is still interested in being Spider-Manat least in some capacity. Considering the popularity of Yelena as a character and the fact that Pugh's MCU career seems to very much just be getting started, a crossover with Spider-Man is certainly not outside the realm of possibility.

The key to any good team-up, as most good buddy cop movies will attest to, is putting two characters with different personalities together. Yelena has proven herself to be more ruthless than her sister, Natasha, and she doesn't hesitate when it comes to dispatching bad guys. Holland's Spider-Man, however, is concerned with doing good and protecting people, almost to a fault sometimes, making the two characters a perfect pairing in many ways. The dynamic has already been proven to work with the funny and competitive relationship between Yelena and Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop in Hawkeye. Although Holland's Spider-Man future remains somewhat unclear, Sony has confirmed that his Spider-Man is contracted to appear in at least one more MCU project, and a crossover with Pugh's Yelena definitely seems like it would be a hit with fans.
