The twisted opposite of legendary Marvel Comics hero Spider-Man has arrived in new official Dark Web art. Spider-Man has faced countless nefarious evildoers during his 60-year tenure as a fan-favorite Marvel character. His rogues' gallery arguably consists of some of Marvel's most iconic super villains with them constantly teaming up to take down the Web Head in teams like the Sinister Six. However, Spider-Man may end up meeting his match as he faces what could be his most devious villain yet: himself...or at least, his clone.

Dark Web is an upcoming Marvel crossover event that finds Spider-Man and countless other Marvel heroes beyond the Spider-Verse facing off against Madeline Pryor, also known as the Goblin Queen, who seeks vengeance against the heroes that wronged her. Joining her will be Ben Reilly as he abandons his Spider-Man persona and becomes Chasm in an effort to take on Peter Parker. Created originally as a clone of Peter Parker and spawning the infamous Clone Saga, Reilly is finally getting a chance to shine on the other side of the Marvel Universe as he and Pryor go on a path of revenge. It's an event that will span over numerous books that will release over the next few months, but fans now have an up close and personal glimpse at Reilly's new twisted Spider-Man.

Official cover artwork for the upcoming debut issue of Dark Web #1 by Zeb Wells and Adam Kubert features Peter Parker's Spider-Man on one end and Reilly's Chasm on the other. Behind them are their allies that will team up with them including an insidious makeover for the Sinister Six, but Reilly and Parker are in the forefront. While Spider-Man is pulling off his classic red and blue outfit, it's Chasm that is sure to draw some interest. His purple and green outfit gives off a terrifying glimpse into what an evil Spider-Man could look like. The eyes are jagged, and the classic spider insignia is larger and bolder. Variant Covers Featuring Chasm Suggest a Powerful Energy Source

On top of the official art, there are two variant covers by In-Hyuk Lee and Ivan Tao that give readers a closer look at Spider-Man's new ultimate foe. Both Tao and Lee's variants showcase Chasm as a more demented version of Spidey with a Prowler-inspired cosmtume. He also shows off wrist bracelets exuding bright green light that likely contains a type of web-fluid but could contain something more since they seem to be the source of a type of dark energy. Perhaps this could be a gift to him from the Goblin Queen as the two partner together, setting up a battle that could show Reilly edging out Peter in the ultimate duel between them.

Dark Web #1 is expected to hit comic stands on December 7th, kicking off the massive crossover event that will continue until February 2023. Not only will this likely be Spider-Man's biggest battle yet, but it could serve as a fascinating sequel with a proper resolution to the Clone Saga that sees the two no longer fighting over who is the real Peter Parker. Instead, it will feature Peter fending for his life as Chasm attempts to be rid of him once and for all. It's going to be a massive Marvel Comics event that shouldn't be missed, and this official artwork for Dark Web is definitely showing that Chasm could be the greatest foe in the Spider-Verse yet.
