Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland has revealed his favorite scenes from the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man films. Holland currently stars as the live-action Spider-Man for Sony and Marvel, with the latest effort, Spider-Man: No Way Home, set for release later this month. The actor first appeared as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War and has since played the character in four more films, including two solo Spider-Man films and the last two Avengers films, making his fifth appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Maguire was the first live-action Spider-Man feature film actor to play the character in the modern era in three films for director Sam Raimi, from 2002 to 2007. Garfield took over the role when Sony rebooted the franchise in 2012 with The Amazing Spider-Man from director Marc Webb, playing the character for two films before the studio teamed up with Marvel to reintroduce the character in the MCU. Since that time, Holland has become the new face of Spider-Man, although rumors have continued to swirl that the latest film would bring back both Maguire and Garfield to fill out the multiverse-themed story.

In a new interview with Jake's Takes, Holland was asked what moment from both Maguire and Garfield's films he would like to have been in. Holland goes on to explain that he really liked the tattered costumes from Maguire's run, as it lent a sense of "realism" to the kind of injuries Spider-Man could get. For Garfield's films, Holland liked the skateboarding sequences as they showed another aspect of Peter Parker's life that was "really interesting and really fun." Read more about Holland's thoughts on the Maguire films and their appeal to him:

"Tobey's movies, I love the final battle between him and the Goblin. I think something that I really wish we had done with our movies is kind of the tattered suit stuff. You know how he always has the rips in his costumes and the rips on the mask? I really like that because it brought a kind of realism to the injuries that Spider-Man can get."

Holland goes on to say that, "For me, I just like the idea that they're not invincible and that kind of stuff, it adds stakes." While Holland's Spider-Man goes through many costume changes and incurs a decent amount of damage, his version has never experienced the shredded or torn masks that Maguire's films were famous for (at least up to the most recent film, Spider-Man: Far From Home). The most recent trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home shows Holland's Spider-Man taking damage and looking battle-worn, but not anywhere near the depths of destruction that Maguire's Spider-Man faced in his day.

The verdict is still out on whether or not Maguire and/or Garfield will show up in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but the closer the release date gets, the more the hype builds. With the villains from the actors' previous Spidery-Man films all making an appearance, it most certainly begs the question as to why the heroes couldn't appear as well. The press were only shown 30 minutes of the film prior to junket interviews, which makes the secrecy levels on the film that much more intriguing. Still, even if neither Maguire or Garfield show up in Spider-Man: No Way Home, their past appearances still stand as iconic webhead adventures that are worth a revisit, regardless of where they may or may not be in the multiverse. All answers will be revealed when Spider-Man: No Way Home releases next week.
