Tom Holland wants Miles Morales to be in future Spider-Man movies, without Peter Parker having to die. Tom Holland joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2016 for the film Captain America: Civil War. Since then he's appeared in four other films in the MCU, most recently his second solo film, Spider-Man: Far From Home. While Peter Parker has been around since the 1960s, the character Miles Morales is a bit more recent.
Miles Morales made his comic book debut in 2011, but last year the character was brought to the big screen with Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. The animated film not only won an Oscar, but also introduced the idea of there being more than one Spider-Man thanks to a multiverse. Miles Morales was introduced in the comics after Spider-Man's death, but Into the Spider-Verse saw Morales team up with a Peter Parker from another universe. Since the film's release, there's been a magnitude of fan art imagining a live-action Spider-Verse film, some of which even include Miles Morales. While nothing's been confirmed by Sony about a live-action Spider-Verse movie, Holland seems to be on board with the films introducing a new Spider-Man.
In a new video, Holland sits down with GQ to answer fan questions across social media. One fan on YouTube asked if Peter Parker would have to die to introduce Miles Morales or if the two characters could co-exist in the same universe. When answering the question, Holland stated, "Well I hope that doesn't happen because I would love to share the screen with Miles, I think that'd be really cool. Um, and I don't want to die, because I really love playing Peter Parker, so that would kind of be a bit of a bummer." Holland shared a similar reaction to the idea of Miles Morales being introduced back when Spider-Man: Homecoming was released in 2017.
While it doesn't look like Peter Parker will die anytime soon, the future of the Spider-Man films is still a mystery. The internet was set ablaze a few weeks ago when it was announced that Spider-Man was out of the MCU since Disney and Sony failed to make a deal regarding the profits for future films. Many fans have been worried about Spidey's future, but Holland himself has said that Spider-Man is in safe hands with Sony.
Despite Spider-Man leaving the MCU creating several unresolved MCU storylines, it does open the door for promising Spider-Man movies. The character could now appear in films like Venom 2 or any of Sony's other planned films revolving around Spidey's rogues' gallery. Miles Morales was also teased in Spider-Man: Homecoming by introducing his uncle Aaron Davis. Combining that with Holland's enthusiasm for introducing the character, it seems like including Miles Morales in future Spider-Man movies could be a real possibility at some point.
