Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland come together for MCU's version of the Spider-Verse in new fan edit. Following a brief conflict with Sony last year, Marvel Studios will continue to have access to the web-slinging hero for the foreseeable future. His next outing will be in the currently untitled Spider-Man 3 film which is increasingly looking to be a live-action version of the Spider-Verse.

With Spider-Man: Far From Home already bringing back J.K. Simmons'  J. Jonah Jameson from the Raimi trilogy, the latest reports that Jamie Foxx is also returning as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is further backing this idea. While Marvel Studios has yet to comment on this latest casting news, the actor has already indirectly confirmed the news with a string of social media posts. Given this, it's safe to say that his reprisal of the classic Spider-Man villain is set in stone. While specifics on how this will work on the big screen are still unknown, fans are already visualizing a Spider-Verse film with all three live-action versions of the her0 coming together to fight a common enemy.

Animator Fanvax visualizes what this team-up in Spider-Man 3 can look like with a new fan-made promotional video for the idea. Clocking in at just 15 seconds, the teaser-type clip sees all three live-action version of the Marvel hero emerging from a sky portal, implying that they've come from a different dimension. Watch the video below:

It's worth noting that there's no indication that Maguire and/or Garfield are appearing in Spider-Man 3 or other future MCU projects in general. That said, once the idea of a Spider-Verse is established, it's going to be fairly easy to incorporate them in Holland's future adventures as the hero. Of course, this will also boil down to whether or not those actors are willing to suit up as Spider-Man on the big screen again. In any case, if Sony and Marvel Studios are indeed building towards this culmination, then chances are that they have a plan to execute it — perhaps they have already been talking with Maguire and Garfield regarding the possibility secretly. This is especially possible since Spider-Man 3 is nearing the beginning of production.

While the idea of a team-up film with all live-action versions of the hero sounds interesting, there are also a few drawbacks for Marvel Studios to jumping in on the concept. For starters, it undermines the Spider-Man 3 set-up they had in Far From Home when Peter's real identity was revealed. Prior to news of Electro coming back, there was a general assumption that it will be the focal point of the threequel. If they're moving forward with the Spider-Verse, that's going to be the primary narrative of the movie. On top of that, they're deliberately putting themselves at a disadvantage given how beloved the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was. There's a myriad of other storylines they can tackle; there's really no need for the MCU to do something that has just been done despite being in a different format.
