Warning! Spoilers ahead for Sinister War #3!

In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Sinister Wara total of six Sinister Six teams have been formed (and manipulated) to go after Spider-Man with the intent to kill the Webslinger once and for all. Completely on his own and barely having time to catch his breath, Peter Parker is struggling to keep his head above water as these villains keep coming, passing him back and forth like a rag doll. Furthermore, it's all part of the endgame of Kindred, Spider-Man's demonic foe who's been planning to punish Peter Parker for years.

While the Sinister War began with just the classic Sinister Six (led by Doc Ock) vs. the Savage Six (led by Vulture), more teams began to enter the fray thanks to Kindred's manipulations. Soon, Spider-Man found himself also dealing with the Foreigner's Wild Pack (featuring foes such as Taskmaster and Black Ant), the Sinister Syndicate (led by the Beetle), and the Superior Foes (featuring Boomerang, Shocker, and Hydro-Man to name a few). Many of these villains have been forced to go after Spider-Man so as to not face the brutal consequences of Kindred himself.

However, that only makes five Sinister Six teams, with the final and potentially most deadly team being revealed in the new Sinister War #3 from Nick Spencer, Ed Brisson, Mark Bagley, Carlos Gómez, and Zé Carlos. The issue sees Kindred resurrecting the Sin-Eater, who then returns the sins he took from the villains he'd cleansed when he was alive. This team of villains notably includes foes such as Juggernaut and Morlun, who come together to form the Sinful Six. Clearly, things are looking pretty grim for Spider-Man, and if teases for the future are any indication, this gauntlet of villains could lead to his eventual death.

The stakes have never been higher for Peter Parker, especially with Mary Jane having been kidnapped and Kindred's goals being so dark. The entire reason he's brought these six teams of villains together in the first place is to put Spider-Man through a gauntlet, punishing him for the sins he believes Peter committed when he made his dark deal with the demon lord Mephisto during the events of the controversial One More Day storyline. While Peter's Aunt May was saved, he lost his marriage to Mary Jane, which in turn retconned and rebooted large portions of his history, including Harry Osborn's death (hence the mysterious emergence of his demonic Kindred persona).

In any case, while Spider-Man is one of the greatest heroes of all time, not even he can take on six Sinister Six teams on his own and survive. This truly looks to be Peter Parker's darkest hour, and with Spider-Man Beyond on the horizon featuring his clone Ben Reilly taking on the Spider-Man mantle from Peter, all signs sadly point to the Webslinger's death. The question is, which Sinister Six team will be the one to do the dark deed before Sinister War concludes?
