The live-action Silk TV series looks to be in full development swing with a new update from executive producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Originally created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, the heroine made her Marvel Comics debut in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man No. 1 with a faceless cameo before getting her proper debut two issues later. Cindy Moon was a classmate of Peter Parker who was bit by the same radioactive spider, though gains organic webbing abilities and is locked up by Ezekiel Simms after being trained to control her powers, with Spider-Man later helping free her and defeating Black Cat and Electro with her help.

Just a few years after making her comics debut, Cindy Moon would make her live-action debut in Spider-Man: Homecoming in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Tiffany Espensen portraying Parker's classmate and decathlon teammate. Following a brief appearance in Avengers: Infinity War, various plans were put in the works for future Silk appearances, including a live-action series set in Sony's Spider-Man Universe. With Watchmen alum Tom Spezialy set as showrunner on the Prime Video series, audiences may be getting getting exciting news for the Spider-Man spinoff sooner than later.

While appearing on Deadline's Crew Call podcast, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller offered some insight for their Marvel futures. When asked about the live-action Spider-Man spinoff series Silk, the executive producers kept mum on specific details, but did share that news regarding the show is coming in the near future. See what the duo said below:

"We're developing all that stuff with great care and there's a really exciting start for Silk. It's coming along. There'll be news someday soon."

The live-action Silk series isn't the only project in the works with the character set to appear as she is also set to lead a Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse spinoff film. The movie is said to be a female-focused story centered on three generations of Spider-Women, including Hailee Steinfeld's Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen and Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman, who will make her debut in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse voiced by Issa Rae. Silk was considered for the first Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse film for its large roster of heroes, though the creative team would instead go with Peni Parker.

Given Lord and Miller have a full dance card of projects, including both Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequels, The Afterparty season 2 and the Ryan Gosling-fronted Project Hail Mary, it's understandable they're taking their time to develop the Silk spinoff series with Spezialy. With nearly a year gone since the Ash vs. Evil Dead co-developer signed on to showrun the project, it seems likely the next update will be a casting reveal of who will lead the charge as Silk. As Sony continues expanding its Spider-Man Universe, it will be interesting to see if they turn to Lord and Miller for help developing other characters for the small screen in the future.
