While many might dream of having their name featured in the Guinness World Records, Ramiro Alanis from Florida made it a reality by viewing Spider-Man: No Way Home a record-breaking 292 times. The Marvel superfan had previously broken this record (most cinema productions attended of the same film) by watching another MCU movie, Avengers: Endgame, an astonishing 191 times back in 2019. The film follows various MCU characters in the aftermath of Thanos’ snap over the lengthy course of three hours and 2 minutes.

Alanis’ 2019 record was overtaken two years later. Arnaud Klein beat Alanis’ attempt with a total of 204 viewing of Kaamelott: First Instalment, the film continuation of the French series of the same name. Klein watched the film four times each day from July 20 to September 20t, 2021. 204 times might seem excessive to surpass the previous total of 191, but Alanis actually had an unofficial record of 202, where 11 Avengers: Endgame screenings were unfortunately excluded due to bathroom breaks.

Alanis managed to regain his place in the Guinness World Records for the most cinema productions attended of the same film earlier this year. While he was aware of Klein’s attempt to break the record, he was still saddened to hear the news. Alanis decided to reattempt this record to honor his Grandmother, who had unfortunately passed before seeing him gain his 2019 Guinness World Records title, though she had been his biggest supporter throughout the process. Starting on December 16, 2021 and finishing on March 15, 2022, Alanis attended 292 Spider-Man: No Way Home screenings at the same cinema, rounding out at over 720 hours of Spider-Man. Alanis posted to his Twitter to celebrate the occasion:

While his dedication is impressive, Alanis wasn’t the first to hold this title. Before his first attempt, this record was held by Joanne Connor. Connor racked up 108 trips to the cinema to see Bohemian Rhapsody in 2019, despite not even being a Queen fan. Her record doesn’t include the further 291 recorded times that Connor watched this film at home after she fell in love with the band and Bohemian Rhapsody.

Spider-Man: No Way Home has become insanely popular since its release, breaking records itself as it becomes the sixth highest-grossing film ever. The 2021 film earned 1.891 billion USD internationally, in which Alanis played a part over his 292 trips to see the film. Alanis has already been eying up other MCU films like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for rewatches but plans for a much more modest number of about five viewings. Many MCU fans can claim to have rewatched Spider-Man: No Way Home but none quite show their record-breaking dedication like Alanis.
