The Daily Bugle's latest Spider-Man: No Way Home TikTok accuses the webslinger of creating supervillain hoaxes. With just two weeks to go before Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in theaters, promotional efforts are reaching a fever pitch. The new movie will find Peter Parker (Tom Holland) adjusting to having his identity revealed to the world. In his desperation to have everything go back to normal, Peter turns to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for a spell that can reverse what happened. However, when it goes sideways, Peter instead must confront a full-on multiversal crisis.

Sony's marketing campaign for Spider-Man: No Way Home has been anything but typical, though that has done nothing to diminish excitement for the movie. The studio spent months teasing the trailer before finally unveiling it in August, and it waited even longer to share the first poster. Now there are numerous Spider-Man: No Way Home television spots making waves on the internet, and Sony has found a unique way to promote the movie by creating a TikTok page for the in-universe news outlet The Daily Bugle.

The Daily Bugle TikTok page was launched just last week, and its most recent post has revealed a plot point from Spider-Man: No Way Home. Daily Bugle intern Betty Brandt (Angourie Rice) starts off the TikTok reporting on strange weather occurrences that have been sweeping New York City, like cataclysmic lightning and freak sandstorms. Just as Betty wonders if these could be the work of new supervillains, she gets a note from her brash boss, J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons). As will come as a surprise to no one, he sees only one person at fault for these supervillain "hoaxes": Spider-Man.

Though Jameson loves to place the blame for all things unnatural on Spider-Man, fans will know the truth behind this No Way Home tease. The existence of the multiverse has allowed past Spider-Man villains to enter the MCU and wreak havoc on Peter's world. The lightning comes from The Amazing Spider-Man 2's Electro (Jamie Foxx), while the sand is a product of Spider-Man 3's Sandman (Thomas Haden Church). Betty was correct in her theory that the weather is a result of supervillains, but the Daily Bugle would never let her say so.

Simmons' arrival in No Way Home was first teased in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home, when he surfaced in the post-credits scene and swiftly revealed Peter's identity to the world. Fans were thrilled to see the return of his J. Jonah Jameson, and it's clear from the marketing materials that he'll play a key role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The presence of the Daily Bugle TikTok is a funny way to tease the movie while also showing just how the world now perceives Peter. Expect a few more snippets to arrive in the final weeks before Spider-Man: No Way Home debuts in theaters.
