An edited version of the recently released trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home shows Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker reacting to the footage. Spider-Man: No Way Home is the MCU’s next release, coming after November’s Eternals. The film is a sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home where the web-slinger battled to defeat Mysterio while away in Europe. The end of the film left audiences with a major cliff-hanger, as it was revealed that Spider-Man’s identity had been uncovered by J.K. Simmons’ J. Jonah Jameson

The latest Spider-Man film is the MCU’s biggest release since the beginning of Phase Four, and comes highly anticipated. Tom Holland’s iteration of Spider-Man is the third in the past two decades, with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield both having played the superhero in their own film series. Spider-Man: No Way Home has revealed, in trailers and other marketing, that the villains from those previous series will be returning to combat Holland’s Peter Parker in the upcoming film. Confirmation of those appearances has led to intense speculation about whether or not Spider-Man: No Way Home will also see Garfield and Maguire reprise their roles

Viewers are eager to find out whether or not the film will see all of the modern versions of Spider-Man unite to fight a joint threat, and many believed that the trailer would reveal their appearances. However the trailer didn’t show either of the two actors, and it’s now likely that if Maguire and Garfield are in the upcoming film, audiences will only find out when it’s released. Nevertheless fans have still latched onto snippets of the trailer that might indicate the presence of Maguire and Garfield, such as when the returning Lizard is jumping towards empty space.

Speculation and anticipation for an MCU release hasn’t been this high since the run-up to Avengers: Endgame. MCU architect Kevin Feige has been keen to dismiss rumors, as to avoid fans being disappointed, however that hasn’t stopped hype for the film from building. Fans now don’t have long to wait to find out whether or not Maguire and Garfield will be in the film, alongside their villains, as Spider-Man: No Way Home will be hitting theaters in mid-December.
