While the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer has finally been released, it's going to be critical that Marvel Studios/Sony not show any more potentially rumored villains (or heroes) going forward. While fans had been clamoring to see footage of the Webslinger's next multiversal adventure for months, the importance of keeping a lid on everything that wasn't shown in the trailer in the final months before release is huge. If any other villains or heroes beyond the ones seen in this first trailer are going to be featured in No Way Home (and there most likely will be), they should be kept secret.

In the first (and hopefully only) trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, quite a lot was revealed in terms of the set-up for the plot and as well as the struggles Tom Holland's Peter Parker is dealing with after being publicly doxed by Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home. However, a handful of rumored and presumed characters such as Doctor Strange and Wong were revealed, as the Sorceror Supreme will attempt to enact a spell to make the world forget Spider-Man's secret identity. However, Peter seemingly causes the spell to go haywire, resulting in multiversal chaos that will feature villains seen in past Spider-Man films with the teases of Jamie Foxx's Electro, Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, and the final shot of the trailer confirming the rumored appearance of Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus.

However, it's highly likely that there will be more villains (and possibly more heroes) involved beyond those seen in this first trailer. Villains such as the Lizard and Sandman are possibly hinted at in the trailer, and the returns of Vulture, Mysterio, and the Scorpion have been teased in merchandise reveals as well. Furthermore, there's also the massive hope from fans that past Spider-Men Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will arrive to help their fellow Peter Parker in his next fight as well, not to mention a cameo from Charlies Cox's Matt Murdock as well. That being said, none of these possible villains or heroes should be seen in future trailers or TV spots, and all future marketing for Spider-Man: No Way Home should keep its focus on the characters who have already been revealed as not to ruin what could be some the film's best and most exciting moments.

Spider-Man-Trailer-Villains

As it stands, Spider-ManNo Way Home already had a huge amount of excitement and hype even before this first trailer release. Likewise, Avengers: Endgame's viewership record was broken by No Way Home for the first 24 hours of its release. Essentially, it could be argued that Marvel Studios/Sony did not need to release a trailer at all, confident in the knowledge that this film would have been seen by more than enough people regardless of any promotion. Keeping that in mind, there shouldn't be any need to over-deliver in the marketing department.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is going to be an incredibly exciting film for a multitude of reasons, and the more surprises it has the better. The hype is at an all-time high, and it's not going to go away by the film's release date at the end of 2021. That being said, any future promos such as TV spots should use the footage that's already been seen (and nothing more). The question marks and unknowns that exist for this film are huge, especially when it comes to its villains and heroes. Here's hoping the surprises won't be diminished by future trailers for Spider-Man: No Way Home before its release on December 17th.
