Following the official release of the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, the movie's social media account throws shade at the leak that happened 24 hours before. At long last, fans have received the first bit of footage from this December's Spider-Man: No Way Home. The past several months have been filled with breathless anticipation for the first trailer, exacerbated by the reports that No Way Home will feature the returns of past Spider-Man actors like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. While other upcoming MCU movies like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals have received multiple trailers, Spider-Man 3 went without anything.

The wait and constant speculation about when it could arrive culminated in a high-profile leak on Sunday. The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer surfaced on social media sites like Twitter and TikTok before Sony pulled it down. That, plus star Tom Holland hyping the trailer up Monday morning, seemed to indicate a reveal could be around the corner. Finally, Sony released the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer during its Monday night CinemaCon presentation and posted it online at the same time.

Never one to let a meme opportunity go by, the official Spider-Man: No Way Home Twitter account mocked the trailer leak once the official release had taken place. The account shared the trailer, then followed it up with "the OFFICIAL HD teaser trailer*," mocking the unofficial and questionable quality of the leak. In another tweet, the account threw shade at anyone who might've watched the leak, writing, "shout-out to the real ones who are watching the trailer for the first time right now."

Trailer leaks are sadly a common occurrence these days, and when a piece of footage is as built up as Spider-Man: No Way Home's trailer was, it isn't surprising that it would make its way out onto the internet at some point. Of course, leaks aren't how filmmakers want fans to see their hard work, and No Way Home director Jon Watts poked fun at this with his own social media post. Fortunately, the official Spider-Man 3 trailer release came soon afterward, and it's safe to say the buzz surrounding it has surpassed that from Sunday's leak.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will find Peter Parker (Holland) dealing with the ramifications of his identity being exposed to the world at the end of the previous movie. As the trailer revealed, he'll turn to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for help, but their actions cause even more trouble for them. Though the trailer was jam-packed with exciting shots and new information, there was a lot it did not show, like any glimpse of Maguire and Garfield. That likely won't come until the movie itself, but that's okay. Fans have plenty of new footage to pore over for the time being.
