Tom Holland is worried he'll ruin Spider-Man: No Way Home if he talks about his future as the Marvel character. Following the runs of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, then-rising star Holland stepped into the role of Spider-Man for the 2016 MCU movie Captain America: Civil War. He quickly won over fans with his wide-eyed portrayal of the iconic superhero, and he has since appeared in a total of five MCU movies. His next, this December's Spider-Man: No Way Home, is being treated as the culmination of his entire Marvel journey.

Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: No Way Home picks up from the previous movie and finds Peter Parker struggling with having his identity revealed to the world. Desperate to put things back to how they used to be, he turns to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for a spell that will hide his true self once more. Naturally, as the No Way Home trailer revealed, this goes horribly awry, and a full multiversal crisis is unleashed. The movie has drummed up much excitement among fans because it's expected to include past Spider-Man stars, such as Maguire and Garfield.

Many fans are focused on who might pop up in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but Holland is just focused on not spoiling the movie for anyone. That includes not delving too much into his future as the character, as he revealed in the latest issue of Empire (via The Direct). After calling his last day on No Way Home a "bittersweet day," Holland expanded upon the future. Or rather, he explained why he can't actually explain much about his future. It's not entirely because he doesn't know what it is (though that does have to do with it). Holland said:

"I honestly don't know. It's the first time since I got cast as Spider-Man that I don't have a contract. And it's... it's just really difficult for me to talk about, because there are so many things I'd love to talk about that would help me embellish what I'm trying to explain. But I can't because it would just ruin the film."

Peter Parker with his mask off in Spider Man Far From Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home truly is the last solo movie in Holland's contract, but it seems unlikely that this will be the end of the line for him. Sony continues to grow its own Marvel/Spider-Man universe with upcoming movies like Morbius and Kraven the Hunter, and it would be strange to see that world continue without some kind of Spidey appearance. Furthermore, as long as Spidey remains in the MCU, fans will expect to see him in future team-up movies.

However, it could be that Spider-Man: No Way Home features a major change for Peter's existence. With the multiverse coming into play, perhaps Peter will get booted out of one world and end up in another. That would certainly make Holland's own future murky, and also explain why he can't fully hint at what might be ahead. Answers won't come until Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in theaters, so it's a good thing that movie is just over a month away. Closure is just around the corner for all involved.
