Tom Holland reveals he lost sleep over his Spider-Man: No Way Home lying and that he felt guilty for going against his honest nature. Holland returned in the webslinging threequel as Peter Parker grapples with his secret identity having been revealed by Mysterio in the post-credits of Spider-Man: Far From Home and threatens to derail his and his friends' futures. With seemingly no other options, Parker turns to Doctor Strange to perform a spell to wipe the world's memory of his dual life, only for the spell to go awry and open the doors to the multiverse.

This in turn brings Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, Alfred Molina's Doc Ock, Thomas Haden Church's Sandman, Rhys Ifans' Lizard and Jamie Foxx's Electro from other realities to Parker's world and requires him to learn the true meaning of being a hero. Alongside Holland's Parker, the cast for Spider-Man: No Way Home included Benedict Cumberbatch as Strange, Benedict Wong as Sorcerer Supreme Wong, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned and Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan. With the return of prior Spider-Man movie villains and their respective stars came Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's webslingers back on screen, a surprise praised by many even as those behind the reveal tried to keep it a secret.

While appearing on Late Night with Seth Myers to discuss Uncharted, Tom Holland opened up about his blockbuster hit Spider-Man: No Way Home. In discussing the secretive nature and press tour for the film, Holland reveals he lost sleep over having lied about Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's roles and had to grapple with the guilt. See what Holland said below:

"I am a very honest person, by nature. Which has gotten me into trouble in the past… Every time I say like, 'So, Tobey…' I'm like 'Shhhh. Shut up! Don't say that!' So, yeah, I'm just very honest. So, on the press tour, journalists are like, 'So, were Tobey and Andrew in this movie?' I'm like, 'No, they're not. Stop asking me that.' And I go home and almost can't sleep. I'm calling up my mom. 'I just feel so guilty for all the lies.'"

Spider-Man No Way Home Tobey Maguire Andrew Garfield Tom Holland Together

The arrivals of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Spider-Man: No Way Home has become one the most infamous and poorly kept secrets in both Hollywood and MCU history thanks to numerous set leaks revealing their returns. It wasn't for a lack of trying on the parts of both Garfield and Holland for trying to keep a lid on the reveal, with both famously lying in numerous interviews and claiming the various leaks to be doctored images and photos. Unlike Holland, Garfield has since revealed he took some delight in lying for Spider-Man: No Way Home, even going so far as to keep it a secret from former The Amazing Spider-Man co-star Emma Stone.

Holland's guilt over lying for Spider-Man: No Way Home speaks to the character of the young actor as he had to grapple with deceiving his fans over the former Spider-Men actors' returns. Prior to the film, Holland had drawn a reputation for his numerous spoiler slip ups in regards to the MCU, notably having co-stars take part in all of his interviews for Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame in an effort to curb any potential reveals. Though Holland's Spider-Man future is still largely unknown, audiences can revisit the multiverse and box office breaking Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters now.
