Spider-Man star Elizabeth Banks has shared a throwback photo while joking about securing tickets for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Banks starred as Betty Brant in Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man trilogy alongside Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker, after originally auditioning for the role of Mary-Jane Watson. Brant worked for The Daily Bugle as secretary to J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) and made a brief appearance in all three films in the original Spider-Man trilogy.

With the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home now just around the corner, tickets for the highly-anticipated threequel went on sale earlier this week and caused many of the ticketing sites to crash in the process. Recently, it was reported that the film had sold the most day-one tickets since Avengers: Endgamewith many emotions running high as fans took to social media to share their frustrations at the numerous sold-out showings. The hype that surrounds this latest MCU installment can be put down to a number of reasons, but it's largely due to the rumors of a team-up between Maguire, current Spider-Man Tom Holland, and Andrew Garfield, which have certainly had a large role to play in amping up the anticipation for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Now, Banks has joked about the insane ticket sales by sharing a throwback shot of her character. The Hunger Games star took to Twitter to share the shot from 2004's Spider-Man 2, which shows Brant holding Peter's payslips for his work as a photographer for The Daily Bugle. Since the stubs resemble tickets, Banks joked in the caption that she already had her tickets for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Fans were delighted at this nostalgic reference and were quick to share their desire to see Banks reprise her role one day. The character of Betty Brant also makes an appearance in Holland's Spider-Man films, but instead, this iteration sees her as one of Parker's school peers, played by Angourie Rice. The character had a fairly sizeable role in Spider-Man: Far From Home, as she shared a brief summer romance with Parker's best friend, Ned. With Spider-Man: No Way Home confirmed to center around the emergence of the multiverse as a central plotline within the MCU, fans are now curious as to whether Banks' and Rice's characters could cross paths in the future.

Banks is not the only star to have acknowledged the insane ticket sales that Spider-Man: No Way Home has experienced, with Holland taking to Instagram recently to share a hilarious meme that also referenced Maguire's Spider-Man. Banks' sweet call-back to her role in the Raimi trilogy will certainly delight many fans, and with J. Jonah Jameson set to return in the upcoming Spidey sequel, it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility that his trusty secretary from the Maguire Spider-Man movies could also be referenced in the film in some capacity. As for now, there isn't long to go for fans (and Banks) as Spider-Man: No Way Home releases in theatres this month.
