Spider-Man: No Way Home has already proved that Spider-Man still can't let go of Iron Man. Very little has been revealed about the plot of Spider-Man: No Way Home, but the merchandise based on the film has offered clues — including hints that Peter is still holding on to Tony's influence in his life. As one of the youngest Avengers, Peter seems determined to carry on his mentor’s legacy in his own heroic career, honoring him via his Spider-Man costume design.

Spider-Man: Far From Home followed Peter in the aftermath of Avengers: EndgameAfter the death of his friend and mentor, Tony Stark, Peter is left grappling with grief and a shaken sense of identity – all while handling going back to high school post-snap. Stark has served as Peter's mentor since Peter's early career, standing in as a father figure for the teenage hero. After his death, Tony has still had an effect on Peter's hero career. Peter still uses the technology Tony built him — including "Even Dead, I'm The Hero," or E.D.I.T.H., an augmented reality artificial intelligence system housed in a pair of sunglasses. Tony was one of the first people who truly believed in Peter's ability to be an Avenger, and the two shared a tight-knit bond, so it's no surprise that the young hero is still struggling to overcome Tony's loss. With Doctor Strange appearing in No Way Home, there’s the possibility that Doctor Strange will replace Iron Man as Spider-Man’s mentor, but Tony still holds a special place in Peter’s life.

Marvel has recently revealed merchandise for Spider-Man: No Way Home, including Funko Pops, Hasbro figures, and LEGO sets. This merch release is the first look fans have had at Peter's new suits. While the figures feature various suits — including a suit integrated with Doctor Strange gadgets and a black and gold suit — there is one suit that carries heavy influence from the stylization of Iron Man.

Spider-Man No Way Home New Suit

The new suit revealed in the Spider-Man: No Way Home merchandise features the classic red webbing with some modern additions that point toward Peter's lingering attachment to Tony. The black accents are reminiscent of the suit Peter designed himself with Stark technology in Far From Home. The golden accents on his torso are a nod towards Stark's designs in the Iron Spider suit from Avengers: Infinity War

Peter had originally turned down the suit in Spider-Man: Homecomingbelieving he wasn't ready to join the Avengers quite yet. Donning this suit was a monumental moment for Peter as Spider-Man officially joined the Avengers — and it was personally designed for him by Tony Stark — so it's no surprise Peter isn't quite ready to let the design go. His black and red suit from Far From Home represented his growth and his confidence in himself to be a hero: something he was able to find because Tony was confident in Peter's abilities. With this new suit, it’s likely Spider-Man: No Way Home will feature some major growth for Peter both personally and heroically – but Spider-Man isn’t ready to let Iron Man go just yet.
