Spider-Man: No Way Home currently holds a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score following its worldwide premiere in Los Angeles last night. Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of the most highly-anticipated films of the year as the MCU’s Spider-Man (Tom Holland) ventures on his third solo outing, following 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. A huge part of the hype surrounding Spider-Man: No Way Home is due to its ambitions to tie all the previous Spider-Man movies together, with the MCU's Peter facing off against iconic villains from both Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy and Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man films.

Spider-Man: No Way Home sees Peter ask Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to perform a dangerous spell to get the world to forget that he is Spider-Man. When the spell goes awry, the multiverse inadvertently splits wide open, inviting past Spider-Man villains (including Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus, Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin, and Jamie Foxx as Electro) into Peter’s universe and threatening the fabric of reality. Jon Watts is returning as director, and many of the cast of the MCU Spider-Man films also return including Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, and Marisa Tomei. Following the premiere, mostly positive Spider-Man: No Way Home reviews have been pouring in, with most praising the cast’s performances and some criticizing the perhaps overly-ambitious plot.

Now, the hype for Spider-Man: No Way Home has reached boiling point as the Rotten Tomatoes critics consensus is revealed to be an overwhelmingly positive 100% "Certified Fresh” at the time of writing. With 45 reviews currently displayed on the review-aggregator website, many top critics are full of praise for the Spider-Man threequel. This makes Spider-Man: No Way Home currently the highest rated MCU Spidey film, as Spider-Man: Homecoming has 92% and Spider-Man: Far From Home has 90%.

Of course, this doesn’t take the audience review score into account yet, as the general theatrical release starts on Thursday in the US. It’s also not uncommon for Rotten Tomatoes scores to drop after the first wave of reviews. For instance, Marvel's recent feature, Eternals, saw many positive reviews in its first wave before becoming the first MCU movie to hold a “Rotten” score on the website. Therefore, it’s extremely likely that Spider-Man: No Way Home won’t hold a perfect score for very long, no matter how much critics have enjoyed their first look at the movie.

That being said, coming straight off the premiere with a perfect score is a solid indicator of Spider-Man: No Way Home’s high quality and extreme popularity. In an encouraging update for eager viewers, the movie's impressive early rating is one of the first signs that the threequel will be able to live up to the overwhelming amount of hype generated by Spider-Man’s passionate fanbase. With just days to go until fans finally get to see Spider-Man: No Way Home, the coveted Rotten Tomatoes seal of approval is another indication that the latest MCU film is going to be a highlight of the year.
