Spider-Man: No Way Home has now outgrossed Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker's entire domestic run. Spider-Man has been breaking pandemic box office records left and right since its theatrical debut on December 17, 2021. Although it consistently trails behind the even bigger MCU crossover Avengers: Endgame, which tore through the box office in spring 2019, it has the best domestic gross of any movie in the pandemic era, and is performing well even by the standards of the pre-pandemic era, including nabbing the 2nd best opening day as it started on its way to earning over $1 billion by the end of Christmas weekend.

Part of the reason for the film's runaway success is its ambitious crossover appeal. In addition to completing Tom Holland's first trilogy of solo Spider-Man films, No Way Home features Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. Adding to this MCU crossover event is the multiversal implosion caused by a spell gone wrong that has brought villains from every Spider-Man timeline, specifically Tobey Maguire's 2002 Spider-Man trilogy and Andrew Garfield's 2012 The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel, to wreak havoc in the MCU.

Per DeadlineSpider-Man: No Way Home's domestic gross as of Tuesday has now reached a total of $516.4 million. This 12-day gross has already passed the gross of The Rise of Skywalker, which made $515.2 million in its entire run. Passing Skywalker places Spider-Man at #14 on the list of the best-performing domestic box office films of all time, right below Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It seems that the film will be entering the top 10 in short order, but it will need another box office boost if it wants to beat Avengers: Endgame, which is #2 at $858.4 million, or the reigning champion Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens at $936.7 million.

Worldwide, Spider-Man: No Way Home has grossed a whopping $1.16 billion. Now that it beat Spider-Man: Homecoming's worldwide gross of $1.1 billion, No Way Home has now surpassed the worldwide gross of every single one of the previous 8 live-action Spider-Man films. It has also beaten those films' domestic grosses by an even more significant margin: the previous record-holder was 2002's Spider-Man with $407 million.

Spider-Man: No Way Home still has a long way to go before it completes its run in theaters, especially considering that it hasn't even opened in China. It is still waiting to pass censorship before it premieres in that territory, and if it is approved this would bring an influx of cash that would likely shoot it even further into the stratosphere. It's already the only American film in the worldwide box office top 3 of the year, so it could be well on its way to breaking every box office record there is by the end of its historic run.
