Spider-Man: No Way Home gets a couple of new posters that secretly reference Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's respective Spider-Man films. After a slow start to its marketing campaign, Marvel Studios and Sony are ramping up their promotional efforts for Spider-Man: No Way Home. While a third trailer is uncertain, fresh promo clips and posters have continuously been rolled out, including different looks at the wall-crawler, Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange, and the many Spidey villains that will appear in the threequel.

Marvel Studios will continue to have access to the web-slinging hero for the foreseeable future after a brief conflict with Sony which almost resulted in Spider-Man being pulled from the MCU. With the controversy done, the studios are now focused on rolling out their next collaboration, which is once again helmed by Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home director Jon Watts. Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to wrap up Holland's Spider-Man trilogy, and it appears to be doing it in a big way. Given its multiversal story, the blockbuster will feature the return of villains from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man franchise and Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man films such as Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), and Electro (Jamie Foxx), among others. The question now is whether or not their respective Spider-Men will also show up.

Despite persistent rumors, there's still no concrete indication that Garfield and Maguire will indeed be in Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, a couple of new international posters from GSC  moviehouse in Malaysia support the idea that they will be involved in the movie, since the images seem to secretly reference Spider-Man 2 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. As seen in the first poster, Holland's Peter Parker mimics Maguire's pose in the character poster for Raimi's 2004 movie. Meanwhile, the second illustration has a similar visual to Garfield's poster for the 2015 flick, in which he's perched on the side of the Oscorp building. Check out the one-sheets below:

Prior to the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home's second trailer, many had high expectations that Garfield and Maguire's involvement would finally be confirmed — either by a clear tease or an outright appearance from both of them. But that wasn't the case. Instead, the focus was on the arrival of the villains from other universes, as well as Doctor Strange's explanation of how the multiverse affects the movie's story. Subsequent TV spots continue this trend, opting to highlight Peter's personal arc instead of the much-anticipated return of Garfield and Maguire's web-slingers. Despite this, however, fans are convinced that the other Spider-Men were just edited out of the trailer to keep their involvement a secret.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige did warn viewers to keep their expectations in check for Spider-Man: No Way Home. While he admitted that some of the rumors are true, many of them are not. So, it's best that fans don't get too attached to a specific claim as it might not come to fruition, leaving them very disappointed. Ultimately, these poster references could simply be a nod to the Spider-Man movie legacy, and nothing more.
