Spider-Man: No Way Home is reportedly still not finished editing and is racing to meet its premiere deadline. Spider-Man: No Way Home is the third entry in the MCU Spider-Man trilogy that will see Peter Parker (Tom Holland) team up with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to battle with villains from other universes, specifically past Spider-Man film series like Green Goblin, Doc Ock, and Sandman from the Sam Raimi trilogy, as well as Lizard and Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man films. No Way Home is currently set to hit theaters on December 17, 2021, and is set to be the breakout hit of the holiday season.

Anticipation for the film is high as multiple ticket websites crashed the night the tickets went on sale. Early tracking has Spider-Man: No Way Home not only as the biggest opening weekend of the pandemic but also the biggest opening weekend for a Spider-Man movie ever. Ever since the latest trailer premiered at a special event, the marketing campaign has kicked into overdrive with multiple new posters and TV spots dropping to get audiences ready for the wall-crawler's next big adventure.

According to Steven Weintraub, Editor-in-chief at Collider, Spider-Man: No Way Home is still not ready for release. Weintraub said the final VFX shots for the film will not be ready until early next week, shortly before the press preview screenings and the film's worldwide premiere. Weintraub said this is not a cause for concern as it is something that happens in a lot of major movies. Check out his tweet below:

Filming on Spider-Man: No Way Home started in late October 2020 and wrapped in March 2021, meaning the film finished principal photography nine months before the film's release date. Given the massive scale of the project, including multiple CGI characters like Sandman and Lizard, along with the multiversal action of the film, it makes sense the filmmakers would still be working on it. It also helps give insight into the fact that the first trailer for the film was not released until August 2021, so close to the film's release date.

Another factor for the down-to-the-wire timeframe for the editing could be incorporating the end-credit scenes of the film, which may have been filmed much later after principal photography. The Avengers Schwarma scene was not filmed until after the film's Los Angeles premiere, just two weeks before it premiered worldwide. While it is unknown what the after-credit moment for Spider-Man: No Way Home could be, it is possibly connected to the end-credit scene for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which showed Venom transported to the MCU. Venom has not been shown in any promotional material for Spider-Man: No Way Home, and given the already crowded cast of characters, it is likely the character won't cross paths with Peter Parker until another film, possibly setting the stage for Venom 3.
