Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The emotional ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home saw Peter Parker (Tom Holland) don a new Spider-Man suit that fixes everything the Tony Stark-designed suit got wrong about the character. During the final scenes of No Way Home, Peter was forced to make the ultimate sacrifice by telling Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to properly perform the spell that would make everyone in the world forget who Peter Parker is. This included those closest to him, like MJ (Zendaya), Ned (Jacob Batalon), Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau), and even Strange himself.

This meant that not only was Peter left without any friends or family, he also lost his Stark Industries funding. He was forced to move into a small apartment in New York City and fashion his own costume. Audiences were only able to catch a glimpse of the new suit, but it was obvious that the suit was more comic accurate, and more importantly, clearly inspired by the suits of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, who he fought alongside previously in the film.

Spider-Man: No Way Home's ending felt like a fresh start for Peter in the MCU as he goes on to carry a second trilogy in the ever-expanding universe, and the new suit perfectly symbolizes that. Peter's more classic suit rid him of the strong Iron Man influence that watered down his character in the MCU so far, hinting that viewers will get to see a more accurate representation of Peter Parker's true identity from now on. Additionally, the new suite indicated that Peter was inspired by the other, older Spider-Men and will follow the advice given to him by them to not let rage, vengeance, and hatred consume him and cloud his judgment.

Other than the third act of 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, Peter has never worn a suit that he made himself, as he was always provided with a high-tech Spider-Man costume by Tony Stark. Spider-Man creating his own suits has always been a big part of his character, as it shows his creativity and ingenuity as well as his independence. While Peter has used Stark-designed suits in the comics, the MCU Stark suits cast a shadow over Spider-Man's character and prevented him from fully evolving. The new suit seen at the end of No Way Home proves that going forward, Peter will be more self-reliant, allowing the better attributes of his character to shine.

Moreover, while Spider-Man got multiple suits in No Way Home, he ended with a classic red and blue color scheme reminiscent of the suits of the other two Spider-Men. Clearly, the MCU Peter Parker looks up to the two older and wiser heroes and their influence on him could be necessary. Following Aunt May's death, MCU Peter was filled with rage and was bent on killing Green Goblin (Willam Dafoe), until he was counseled by the two other Peters. The advice they gave him calmed Holland's Parker down as they explained to him that no good can come from letting hatred and vengeance consume a person. The new suit hints that he'll carry their words with him.

After three solo movies and three other MCU appearances, it's refreshing to finally catch a glimpse of a more classic Spider-Man suit in the MCU in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Hopefully, the new suit will not be all CGI in future films seeing that it doesn't include crazy gadgets or advanced technology. That could bring a sense of realism that was missing from Spider-Man's solo MCU outings. It is the significance of the suit, however, that means the most to both Peter and the audience, not the suit itself. Wisened by the words of his older variants, Tom Holland's Peter Parker should start to grow into his more comic book accurate self as he sheds the Iron Man influence following Spider-Man: No Way Home.
