With Spider-Man: No Way Home's first trailer now out, Sony also releases the film's official synopsis. After months of waiting, the first proper look at the Jon Watts and Tom Holland MCU film is finally here. This signals the beginning of the official marketing period for the threequel with only around four months before it hits theaters.

Principal photography for the project wrapped up early this year, but aside from its official title and a few stills, both Marvel Studios and Sony have been mum about the project until now. Spider-Man: No Way Home's trailer, which debuted at the ongoing CinemaCon gives eager fans their first look at the blockbuster, while also confirming several rumored plot lines, including how the multiverse will factor into its narrative. Surprisingly, the marketing video, which clocks in almost three minutes, paints a clear picture of how Peter Parker's story will continue coming from Spider-Man: Far From Home's set-up. That being said, its synopsis also reveals extra interesting tidbits about the flick.

On the heels of Spider-Man: No Way Home's trailer roll out, the narrative brief for the movie has also been released by Sony. It highlights Peter's predicament after his real identity was revealed to the world and how his attempt to seek help from Doctor Strange makes it worse. The synopsis ends with the promise that in this journey, the young hero will finally learn what it really means to be Spider-Man. Sony also announced a confirmed cast, which includes Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, and Marisa Tomei. Check it out the synopsis below:

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

Spider Man No Way Home trailer Iron Spider suit

Arguably the most intriguing part of the synopsis is its final line. Throughout Spider-Man's arc in the MCU, Marvel Studios has had criticisms about how they've made the hero very dependent on Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.). With Tony Stark gone, Spider-Man: No Way Home could be their chance to come up with a movie that solely focus on him, but that's not the case with Doctor Strange involved in the threequel. Of course, unless, there's some unexpected plot twist that involves the true nature of the sorcerer. Given the rumors of other Spider-Men appearing, it's possible that MCU's Peter can also learn a thing or two about standing on his own feet. In any case, the brief is teasing at a significant transformation for the hero.

It's also interesting to see the cast lineup of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The trailer reveals that there's more actors appearing in the film, with Benedict Wong and Alfred Molina unlisted. But, aside from them, Jamie Foxx, Willem Dafoe, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire are also set to reprise their respective Marvel roles in Electro, Green Goblin, and Sony's two separate Spider-Man. Then again, considering that this is just technically a teaser trailer, a proper trailer is still in the cards in the next several weeks wherein they can ultimately show some of these other characters.
