Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland says the Marvel Cinematic Universe threequel will connect three Spider-Man movie generations. The latest installment in the webslinger franchise will see the returns of Alfred Molina's Doctor Otto "Ock" Octavius from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy alongside Jamie Foxx's Electro from Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Holland will lead a cast that also features the returns of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei, J.B. Smoove and Benedict Wong.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will see Holland's Peter Parker turn to Doctor Strange for a spell to erase everyone's memory of his double life as the titular hero after his secret identity is exposed in the post-credits of Spider-Man: Far From Home by the now-dead Mysterio. However, the spell goes awry and the doors to the multiverse are opened, forcing Parker to team up with the Sorcerer Supreme to face off against enemies from alternate realities. With its arrival right around the corner, the cast of the film continue to remain tight-lipped on Spider-Man: No Way Home's secrets, though are willing to give plenty of teases.

As the film gears up for release next month, Holland caught up with Total Film to discuss Spider-Man: No Way Home. In reflecting on the movie's multiverse plot and cast, Holland described the element as "exciting" and says the threequel will connect all three Spider-Man movie generations. See what Holland said below:

"It means a lot to me. The first time you see Doc and the rest of the characters that come back, it’s so exciting – and it’s such a huge moment in cinematic history. It’s three generations coming together."

Given Holland's infamous past as a source of spoilers for the MCU, the young star has been especially careful about his words for Spider-Man: No Way Home. His latest tease that the threequel will connect three Spider-Man movie generations may not come as much of a surprise given the introductions of Molina's Doc Ock and Foxx's Electro into the MCU. However, it's sure to further fuel fans' speculation that the film will indeed see the returns of previous Spider-Men Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to help combat their former foes.

With only one trailer and poster out for Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel Studios and Sony are certainly doing their best to keep a lid on the endless secrets of the first multiverse film in Phase Four of the MCU. In addition to the former Spider-Men, rumors and theories abound that the film will also see the returns of Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, a villain who has been teased in the trailer though no indication as to which incarnation, and Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock from Netflix's Daredevil. Only time will tell how the film ultimately brings the three Spider-Man movie generations and universes together when it hits theaters on December 17.
