Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire recreate the iconic Spider-Man pointing meme in honor of No Way Home's home media release announcement. Holland took up the mantle of the beloved webslinger for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Maguire initially departed from the role with Sam Raimi following the disappointment of Spider-Man 3 and Sony scrapped Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man franchise due to lackluster box office returns. However, as the doors to the multiverse were burst open in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the two would return as their respective Spider-Men.

Along with Garfield and Maguire, Spider-Man: No Way Home saw the returns of their villains, Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus, Thomas Haden Church's Sandman, Rhys Ifans' Lizard and Jamie Foxx's Electro. The group all make their way to the MCU as Holland's Peter Parker seeks to restore his secret identity with the help of a spell conducted by Doctor Strange that goes awry, requiring the two to find a way to return them all to their respective universes, though puts them in direct conflict over the moral quandary of sending them back to their deaths. Spider-Man: No Way Home has received acclaim from critics and audiences alike for incorporating the previous webslinging franchises into the MCU and now Sony is celebrating its success in a unique fashion.

A few months after the film firs swung to theaters, the official Spider-Man Twitter account has announced that Spider-Man: No Way Home is coming to digital platforms in March and physical shelves in April. To celebrate the announcement, stars Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire have recreated the iconic Spider-Man pointing meme. Check out the fun image below:

The Spider-Man pointing meme has its origins in the 1967 animated Spider-Man series in an episode in which an actor-turned-criminal attempts to hide his identity by impersonating the webslinger, though finds himself confronted by the real hero during one of his art robberies. The moment was memorably recreated in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse's post-credits scene in which Oscar Isaac's Miguel O'Hara, better known as Spider-Man 2099, travels to the elder animated universe and has an argument with the webslinger. It was later brought to life in two separate occasions for Spider-Man: No Way Home as Jacob Batalon's Ned attempts to get his Peter's attention, resulting in confusion amongst the three, and during the film's climactic battle as they try to figure out who is who to craft a combat strategy.

Interestingly, Andrew Garfield revealed that the first recreation of the Spider-Man pointing meme in Spider-Man: No Way Home was a suggestion he made while filming the scene, believing it to work better than the brief joke included in the original script. Given the large web of lies Garfield and Holland concocted to keep the former Spider-Men's appearances a secret, it's understandable Sony has kept them out of the marketing up to this point, though with months now behind its initial release and most audiences having either seen the film or been spoiled on their reveal, now would be the time to bring them back. Audiences can look forward to revisiting Spider-Man: No Way Home from the comfort of their couches when it hits digital platforms on March 22 followed by 4K Ultra-HD, Blu-ray and DVD on April 12.
