A piece of Spider-Man: No Way Home fan art combines Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland’s Spidey suits. After Sam Raimi’s third Spider-Man outing with Maguire got lackluster reviews, Sony decided to reboot the franchise with Andrew Garfield. Garfield starred in two of Marc Webb’s Spidey films, and while there were plans for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, 4, and a Sinister Six spinoff, the poor reviews and box office forced Sony to again reboot the IP. Tom Holland would of course be the next actor to play Peter Parker, and Sony also worked out a deal with Disney to let the character finally join the MCU in Captain America: Civil War in 2016.

Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home both did well at the box office and with critics, but Spider-Man: No Way Home by far garnered the most hype leading up to release. After news broke that Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina were returning as Electro and Doc Ock, respectively, rumors quickly spread that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield would make an appearance as well. These rumors only grew as Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin), Rhys Ifans (Lizard), and Thomas Haden Church (Sandman) were announced to also be part of the Spider-Man sequel. While most expected the rumors to be true, Maguire and Garfield did indeed return when Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters on December 17, 2021, effectively tying three generations of Spider-Man together.

Seeing Maguire, Garfield, and Holland team up in the climax of the film to battle past Spider-Man movie villains was no doubt one of the most satisfying moments of the movie, so mraccoon on Instagram combined all three Spidey suits into one costume. Maguire’s suit makes up the base of the costume with embellishments of Holland’s Iron Spider suit thrown on top. Garfield’s suit isn’t quite as prevalent, but Spider-Man’s eyes are pulled from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 costume. Check out the artist’s original piece below.

Almost all superheroes get new costumes in between films as a marketing ploy, but Holland’s Spider-Man got some big upgrades throughout his time in the MCU. Holland started off with a suit Stark gifted him to help fight against Captain AmericaSpider-Man: Homecoming used the same suit before Peter created the Upgraded Suit using the Stark Industries Fabricator in Far From Home. Over the course of the franchise, Parker would get several upgraded costumes such as the Iron Spider Suit and the Integrated Suit while also sporting the Homemade and Night Monkey costumes, among others.

This art isn’t something that would have made sense narratively, but it is still an interesting way to symbolize three generations of Spider-Man coming together. By the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter began a new chapter of his life after everybody in the world forgets who he is. Part of his fresh start includes donning a new homemade Spider-Man suit. Having Holland’s Peter Parker stitch his own suit not only gets Spider-Man out of Tony Stark’s shadow, but it also shows that Peter 1 took inspiration from his newfound brothers.
