Tom Holland reveals his brother Harry shot a scene for Spider-Man: No Way Home but it was cut from the film. Holland returns for his sixth go-around as Peter Parker in what figures to be the wrap-up of the MCU’s first (but possibly not last) Spider-Man trilogy.

Holland is of course not alone in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but is joined by an entire crew of villains pulled from various past Spider-Man movies, including Doc Ock, Electro, The Lizard, The Sandman and Green Goblin. And it’s also possible that Holland is joined by former Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield though this has not been confirmed. All this chaos of course is kicked off when Spider-Man and Doctor Strange unleash the power of the multiverse, a move that looks like it will have significant ramifications for the MCU going forward.

For a movie that’s already stuffed with characters from the MCU and other corners of the multiverse, No Way Home in fact almost had one more memorable character, a young burglar played by Holland’s brother Harry. But as Holland revealed to The Graham Norton Show, this star turn by his younger brother ultimately was removed from the final cut of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Holland’s story about how his brother almost became a movie star begins with Holland complaining about being hung upside down for a whole day while shooting a scene with Doc Ock, and his brother telling him to “suck it up.” Holland continued the tale from there, explaining how the film's director Jon Watts told him about the need for a young actor to play a burglar, and Holland volunteering his brother for the job. Holland went on:

So we hire Harry. We cast Harry. He’s on set. I go up to the stunt coordinator and I’m like, “Please just whatever you do with the stunt, make it so he’s upside down.” So we’re doing the scene. Harry’s upside down swinging back and forth. Bless him, he’s doing a really good job. And as the day’s going on he’s got these lines and he’s starting to forget his lines and his eyes are about to pop out of his head. So we’re driving home that day and I was actually really proud of him. But he’s driving home that day and he’s like “Mate you can complain as much as you want. That is brutal.” But the icing on the cake, and I don’t think he actually knows this. We saw the film the other day. And they’ve cut the scene. It’s not in the film.

Obviously it’s a huge bummer for Holland’s brother that he doesn’t get to be in Spider-Man: No Way Home. It’s possibly also a bummer for the audience as it sounds like the scene that was shot was very entertaining. But as filled with characters and plot twists as No Way Home sounds like it is, it’s probably not a surprise that a relatively minor scene like the one described by Holland was cut from the movie, even if it did contain a potential star-making performance by Holland’s own brother.

Certainly what did make it into Spider-Man: No Way Home is more than exciting enough to make Spider-Man fans happy as they seek out entertainment during the holiday season. Indeed, much is riding on the latest Spider-Man adventure as the movie business continues to rebound from COVID, and as the MCU heads into Phase 4 and its full-on unleashing of the multiverse. Perhaps at some future date, another Spider-Man movie will get to explore the part of that multiverse where Holland’s brother Harry is a master burglar.
