In the new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer a familiar voice from the past is heard speaking to Peter Parker, but who are they and what do they mean in the context of the overall film? The second trailer for No Way Home has just been released, confirming that several villains from past Spider-Man films will be making their debut in the MCU thanks to a ruined spell cast by Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange. However, who is speaking in the voiceover to Peter Parker after the shot featuring Electro?

In the new trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange confirms that the spell he tried to cast to make the world forget Peter Parker was Spider-Man (which Peter accidentally ruined) has had some dire consequences. Instead, visitors from other universes have come to the MCU, revealed to be past foes who are all eventually killed while fighting their respective universe's Spider-Man. This will apparently cause tensions between Tom Holland's Peter Parker and the Sorcerer Supreme, seeing as how Strange wants to send these villains back to where they belong to meet their fated demises.

While the already confirmed Doctor Octopus is featured once more (played by Alfred Molina), he's also joined by Jaime Foxx's Electro, as well as versions of the Lizard and Sandman. However, the fifth villain revealed in the trailer is none other the Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin from the Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man trilogy where Tobey Maguire starred as Spider-Man. Furthermore, Dafoe's Green Goblin (aka Norman Osborn) is the one speaking to Peter Parker in the middle of the trailer: "Peter, you're struggling to have everything you want while the world tries to make you choose." As a result, it seems as though Green Goblin will be trying to manipulate Tom Holland's Spider-Man when it comes to these new villains.

Green-Goblin-No-Way-Home

Both the traditional version of the Green Goblin and a new style for Norman Osborn are featured in the trailer during Dafoe's voiceover, and it seems as though he'll be instrumental in creating the inner conflict within Peter. Perhaps Norman manipulates the MCU's Spider-Man into feeling guilty about the villains' deaths despite not being the Spider-Man they were fighting when they all died? It's possible Green Goblin will be what drives a wedge between Peter and Strange given his words to Peter suggesting that Spider-Man should try to have everything he wants, rather than having to choose and make a sacrifice.

In any case, the return of Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin along with all of these other past villains is incredibly exciting for Spider-Man fans, and it's going to be interesting to learn more about Norman Osborn's role in particular when Spider-Man: No Way Home releases on December 17th. Here's hoping Tom Holland's Peter Parker will ultimately make the right choice as the MCU's Spider-Man when the time comes.
