Marvel may have forgotten to edit a scene from the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, possibly revealing Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker is in the film. The latest No Way Home trailer reveals several new plot points in the upcoming Spider-Man movie. First, the villains in the movie don't recognize Tom Holland's Peter Parker as Spider-Man, showing the Peter Parkers in their universes are different. "You're not Peter Parker," Alfred Molina's Doc Ock says after unmasking Holland's character. Additionally, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) warns Peter Parker that it's the invading villains' destiny to die. Of course, Parker disagrees, and that leads to their fight in the trailer.

For months, Marvel fans have speculated about Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield appearing in No Way Home. The addition of past Spider-Man villains, including Jamie Foxx's Electro and Thomas Haden Church's Sandman, strongly hints that Maguire and Garfield could show up. Additionally, several No Way Home Easter eggs continue to fuel rumors about the pair appearing. Thus far, Garfield has denied that he appears in the film; however, several supposed leaks making rounds on the internet tell a different story.

Following the latest No Way Home trailer, one scene supposedly showing Garfield's Peter Parker gained traction online. In the scene, which appears around the 1:58 mark in the trailer, Spider-Man swings through scaffolding while seemingly being attacked by Electro. A frame of the moment went viral (via Twitter), supposedly showing Spider-Man sporting the eyes from Andrew Garfield's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 costume. Fans speculate that Marvel reskinned the character to look like Tom Holland's Spider-Man, but the studio forgot to edit out the eyes.

Marvel could've easily made a mistake with Garfield's eyes. Holland's Spider-Man eyes often seem somewhat smaller than his Peter Parker predecessors', and the eyes in the shot appear more prominent and more angular. Additionally, the character appears to be in a battle with Electro in the scene. Since Electro first debuted in Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man 2, the villain could also be a nod to the true identity of the web-slinger. It's not unheard of for Marvel to make mistakes in trailers when trying to cover up secrets. After all, the No Way Home trailer already has one significant error, with Lizard (Rhys Ifans) jumping at an unseen foe, which indicates the MCU edited characters out of the scene.

Then again, this could be fans simply seeing things that aren't there. Fans have already jumped to conclusions over the No Way Home trailer, speculating that Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin was replaced in a scene by James Franco, but that was quickly debunked. Also, some claim that earlier moments of the scene prove the eyes don't belong to Garfield's character and that Tom Holland's Spider-Man is genuinely in the scene. Unfortunately, the details are so blurry and hard to see that it's not easy to discern anything definitively. It could be Garfield, it could be Holland, or it could even be Tobey Maguire. The only thing for sure is that it's definitely not James Franco. Until Spider-Man: No Way Home finally comes out, the truth is in the eyes of the beholder.
