Spider-Man: No Way Home may secretly have made Daredevil's Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) a part of Iron Man's (Robert Downey Jr.) Phase 4 story. After his identity was exposed by Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhall) in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) was hounded by the public, attacked by the media, and arrested by the Department of Damage Control (DoDC). As his dual life fell apart around him, a saving grace came in the form of Matt Murdock/Daredevil, who, with a thud of his cane, helped the MCU avoid the legal repercussions of a teenager like Peter Parker being Spider-Man.

Peter was not the only character under investigation in Spider-Man: No Way Home, however, as the DoDC also opened an investigation into Stark Industries after drones made by the company were stolen by Mysterio and used to conduct a terrorist attack in London. Matt also advised Stark Industries Head of Security Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) to get "a really good lawyer." In any other franchise, this would be throwaway dialogue, but in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a line like this might foreshadow events to come.

Spider-Man: No Way Home may have secretly made Daredevil part of Iron Man's Phase 4 story by clarifying that upcoming Marvel projects such as Armor Wars will put the legal and moral consequences of Tony Stark's Iron Man suit (along with his other creations) under the microscope. Based on an Iron Man comic series of the same name, Armor Wars is one of several MCU shows in development for Disney+. All that is known so far is that War Machine (Don Cheadle) will be sent to retrieve Stark technology before it falls into the wrong hands. With the DoDC also opening an investigation into missing Stark Industries tech in No Way Home, it would make sense for Armor Wars to conclude this storyline. While the missing technology is unknown, the 33 missing Iron Man suits that Tony Stark developed between the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame are the obvious avenue for Armor Wars to explore.

How Armor Wars Could Make Iron Man A Villain One Last Time

Daredevil's (or more specifically Matt Murdock's) role in Armor Wars is unconfirmed, but his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home suggests that he could make a return as Happy Hogan's legal representative. No Way Home made it clear that Happy had taken a few souvenirs home from Stark Industries during his time as their Head of Security. Pair that with his connection to Spider-Man (and the hero's dependency on Stark technology), and it is no surprise that Happy is a person of interest to the DoDC. It will also be interesting to see if Armor Wars deals with the aftermath of May Parker's (Marisa Tomei) death. It occurred in the reception area of Happy Hogan's apartment block, and he had Stark technology in his condominium at the time, most notably the arc reactor powered Stark Industries Fabricator.

Charlie Cox's return as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home was a welcome surprise for fans of Netflix's Daredevil series. His cameo was short, but it opened the door for more appearances in the future. Although Daredevil does not appear in the comic storyline, there is no reason why he could not play a part in Iron Man's Phase 4 story as Happy Hogan's lawyer in the Disney+ adaptation of Armor Wars.
