Fans they think they've spotted Charlie Cox in the trailer Spider-Man: No Way Home and now the actor is trending on Twitter. After months of waiting (and trolling), Sony finally released the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, giving audiences an idea of what's in store for the highly anticipated film. There are plenty of reveals in the trailer, including just how Spider-Man and Doctor Strange may crack open the multiverse further. Additionally, the trailer revealed the return of Alfred Molina as Doc Ock and teased the villains Green Goblin, Electro, Lizard, and Sandman. Still, some thought there were a few things missing.

Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are rumored to play their Spider-Men, but there was no hint of them in the trailer. Similarly, everyone from Kristen Dunst's Mary Jane to Charlie Cox's Daredevil are expected to make their multiverse debuts in the film. Sony seems to be holding those bigger reveals (if they are even coming) for another trailer or even the film itself, but some think that the studio may have accidentally revealed one character's appearance by mistake.

Charlie Cox began trending on Twitter after the debut of the trailer last night. Many think that one scene in particular shows Cox's Matt Murdock in an interrogation room with Peter Parker. The character in question can be seen wearing a white dress shirt and black tie while showing Peter some papers, likely evidence against him in the case of the killing of Mysterio. Check out some of the tweets below:

Ultimately, it's unlikely that the character in the scene is Charlie Cox. In fact, one of the police officers shown in the trailer can be seen wearing a similar getup beneath his jacket in an earlier scene in the trailer. Still, the fact that Cox is trending at all is indicative of the fan fervor surrounding Spider-Man: No Way Home. In fact, the third outing with Holland as the webslinger may very well be the most anticipated MCU film since Avengers: Endgame.

It's still possible that Cox shows up at some point in the film, but fans may want to temper their expectations. There's already so much going on in the film, from the multiversal villains that will be showing up to potential cameos from Maguire and Garfield, that an overstuffed plot could ultimately drag down the film. If Cox were to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it would likely be in a very brief cameo, setting up his future appearances in the MCU and his crossing over from the multiverse. Unfortunately, audiences will have to wait until December to find out.
