Charlie Cox is rumored to be returning to the MCU, and a theory suggests his Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, is in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer. The MCU's third Spider-Man movie is set to continue Phase 4's exploration of the Multiverse, plunging Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and those around him into chaos. The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer shows how this happens, as a spell cast by Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to help restore Peter's secret identity goes wrong, tearing apart the fabric of space and time.

This will lead to a whole hole of familiar faces in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The trailer itself reveals Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus, while also teasing Electro (Jamie Foxx), and it's expected that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will both be back as their respective versions of Spider-Man too. Another character tipped to appear, although from a little closer to Peter's MCU home, is Matt Murdock, who hasn't been seen since Daredevil season 3, after which the show was cancelled by Netflix. The rights are back with Marvel Studios now, and there have been strong rumors of an appearance here, but does the trailer confirm it?

While there is no clear appearance of Daredevil in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, there is a character who many believe could be him. Early in the trailer, when Peter is being questioned at the police station, there's a figure in a white shirt with a black tie whose face is largely unseen; glimpsed only in side profile from a distance, and then in a much clearer shot but with his face not in view, it's led to a lot of speculation that this is indeed Matt Murdock. Unfortunately as things stand, it's impossible to confirm either way whether it is or isn't Daredevil, but some of the pieces do at least fit.

Spider-Man No Way Home Trailer Matt Murdock

If Matt Murdock is in Spider-Man: No Way Home, then the most likely reason would be as Peter's lawyer; he's wanted for the murder of Mysterio after all, and having Matt work to help clear his name would make sense. The vague profile does loosely match Cox's appearance too, though it's at such a distance and unclear view that it doesn't amount to any real evidence, and likewise the shirt and arms certainly could be his, but it's hard to be certain. Peter and whoever is with him are going through a bunch of case files in the scene, which further supports the notion that this is Matt, although the way he quite aggressively throws them down (while not completely out of character) could mean this person is instead questioning Peter, rather than serving as his lawyer.

Since Cox's return in Spider-Man: No Way Home isn't official, then it's easy to see why Sony would want to keep him hidden, if indeed this is him at all. The No Way Home trailer doesn't reveal Garfield or Maguire either, instead keeping its focus on the elements that have been confirmed previously: Doctor Strange, Doc Ock, and the Multiverse. Matt Murdock appearing in this scene, or one very similar to it, would fit in what's known of the story in order to help clear Peter's name, and will undoubtedly be a huge deal if/when it's revealed, but there's no certainty that is (or indeed, isn't) him in the trailer.
