Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is the only Avenger helping Peter Parker (Tom Holland) in Spider-Man: No Way Home — why? After months of waiting, the first trailer for the Marvel Studios and Sony collaboration movie was finally released in August 2021. Surprisingly, it was quite liberal in sharing pertinent information about the story of Spider-Man: No Way Home, particularly regarding Stephen Strange's involvement. That being said, considering the magnitude of Peter's problem, it's curious why no other Avenger is reaching out to offer their assistance.

Tackling the fallout from Mysterio's (Jake Gyllenhaal) malicious death confession at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, No Way Home will see the young hero at his most vulnerable state. Not only did his real identity get revealed to the world, but he's also being framed for the death of Quentin Beck. The threequel's trailer does a great job establishing just how stressful the situation is for him and the people he loves. So, out of desperation, Peter reaches out to Doctor Strange for help. The future MCU Sorcerer Supreme agrees to provide some assistance, but, unfortunately, their attempts to make things better only made it worse.

Since Peter is technically an Avenger, both through Iron Man's (Robert Downey Jr.) designation in Avengers: Infinity War and his involvement in the fight against Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Avengers: Endgame, it's curious why no other Earth's Mightiest Hero is helping him out. Based on Spider-Man: No Way Home's trailer, the whole fiasco is covered by my media outlets, not to mention the fact that it all takes place in New York City. Unless one's in total isolation like Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), other heroes would likely know what is happening with the web-slinger. And yet, only Doctor Strange provides him with the guidance he needs. This could be explained by the fact that aside from the sorcerer, Peter doesn't really have close personal connections to the remaining Avengers. Tony Stark is now dead; aside from him, Spider-Man has had very limited interactions with his fellow heroes. Meanwhile, those he spent time with in Avengers: Infinity War, like several members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, are all off-world.

Looking at the surviving Avengers slate, most of them were Team Cap in Captain America: Civil War like Falcon/Captain America (Anthony Mackie) and the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). This means that Peter didn't really interact with them, aside from briefly fighting them in Germany. Meanwhile, he spent Infinity War mainly in space. Granted that when he came back to Earth in Endgame, he fought side-by-side with all MCU heroes, they didn't get the chance to properly meet each other as they were busy battling Thanos and his minions. There's a chance that there was some brief mingling during Iron Man's funeral, but if Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) thought it was best to focus on the service than talking about work matters, the chances are that everyone else did the same. So, that leaves Doctor Strange as Peter's only true ally.

These circumstances give Marvel Studios an explanation for why no other Avenger is appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home aside from Doctor Strange. Films such as Iron Man 3 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier had this problem. More recently, even The Falcon and the Winter Soldier had the same issue. When it comes to Peter's upcoming adventure, he just hasn't made any meaningful connections with his fellow heroes except for the sorcerer to involve them in his current predicament.
