Marvel Comics has unveiled the next suit that Spider-Man will wear in his current ongoing comic book, The Amazing Spider-Man. On Tuesday, the latest look for the popular superhero was revealed, as the web-slinger will wear a totally different outfit with a brand new color scheme in the upcoming run of Nick Spencer's run on the series.

Peter Parker and the rest of the heroes in the Spider-Verse are no strangers to constantly changing costumes, but the look that has stuck with the first wall-crawler over time with slight variations is his traditional design that is prominently red and blue. However, Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko said that he was originally supposed to be orange and purple. Since debuting Peter has had a wide variety of looks, wearing everything from a black and white costume, to his classic Venom symbiote suit in black, to his Iron Spider ensemble, and even with a bag over his head as a part of the Fantastic Four.

Following his current battle against Kindred in current arc of  Amazing Spider-Man, Peter will sport a new costume designed by Dustin Weaver. The costume is a considerably different look, with an orange glowy spider, which is grey and blue throughout with white accents. One of the most interesting elements of the new design is Spider-Man's eyes, which look like they're somewhat robotic, as they flash an orange glow in front of a black background. Weaver said the costume is both "futuristic and classical" which he says was a collaborative effort from the Spider-Man creative team.

“This design was really a collaborative effort between Nick Spencer, Editor Nick Lowe, and I. They reined in the weirder and more techy features I was bringing and helped create something that I think is simple and both futuristic and classical,” Weaver said. “I can't wait to see Patrick Gleason really bring it to life!”

All-in-all, the look is pretty superb, but it's quite different from the iconic suit Spider-Man most readers are used to. It's hard to say how fans will react to the new costume, but kudos to the entire creative team for trying something completely different. The look is definitely a more advanced, tech-based suit which should come with an array of gadgets and new functions - unless the lighting and glowing is only for aesthetic purposes. Storywise, it makes sense that Peter would want to try something new following the ordeal (and deaths) in the current Sin's Rising saga. Spider-Man will debut the new suit in Amazing Spider-Man #61 and #62 and will take on the Kingpin. You can catch Peter Parker in his new suit when Amazing Spider-Man continues in March.
