Marvel Comics has revealed the new creative team behind the Amazing Spider-Man. On Thursday, Marvel Comics revealed Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr, will take over the title during the 60th Anniversary of Spider-Man. The pair will tackle The Amazing Spider-Man #1 in comic book stores in April.

Earlier this week, Marvel Comics dropped a teaser for the new creative team, revealing The Amazing Spider-Man artist John Romita Jr. was returning to the series. Since Nick Spencer and Ryan Ottley's run ended last year, a handful of creators have handled the recent Beyond storyline, including Patrick Gleason, Saladin Ahmed, Cody Ziglar, Kelly Thompson, Zeb Wells, and Jed MacKay. The Beyond arc starred Ben Reilly as Spider-Man, who was the new corporate-backed web-slinger after Peter Parker was nearly killed and was sidelined. The arc is wrapping up in March with The Amazing Spider-Man #93. Now, Parker is back in a big way.

Here's the synopsis from Marvel.com.

Peter’s on the outs with the FF. He’s on the outs with the Avengers. He’s even on the outs with Aunt May! After a terrible and mysterious incident, no one wants to see Spider-Man – except for Doctor Octopus. Ock’s on Spider-Man’s tail and the Master Planner has something truly terrible planned for when he gets his tentacles on Spidey. All that, and Tombstone makes a move that will remind readers why he’s one of Spider-Man’s most terrifying villains…

It's fascinating to see Marvel Comics reset the issue numbers for the series, as it seems the publisher is taking Spider-Man in a new direction. With Zeb Wells showing his chops on the recent Beyond run, pairing him up with Romita Jr. should inject some new life into the series while also giving readers classic art from the veteran artist. The Amazing Spider-Man #1 by Marvel Comics arrives in comic book stores in April.
