While Spider-Man: No Way Home concluded Tom Holland’s Homecoming trilogy, there are several upcoming Spider-Man movies in 2023, 2024, and beyond. Sony has long been planning spinoff feature films of Spider-Man universe characters, though only a few have come to fruition. While solo or team-up films surrounding characters like Black Cat and Silver Sable, Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio villain, or even Aunt May have long been rumored Sony projects, Sony has a healthy slate of confirmed upcoming Spider-Man movies on its schedule after 2021’s No Way Home — including the followup to smash-hit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Following the heartwarming yet tragic ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home, many fans have lobbied for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men to receive their long-awaited sequel films. Maguire’s Spider-Man trilogy was initially set to have at least two more sequels, while Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 3 film was canceled due to Disney’s deal with Sony about introducing a new Spider-Man into the MCU, which would later become Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. While Holland, Maguire, and Garfield’s superhero returns are so far unknown, there are still plenty of upcoming Spider-Man movies to satisfy audience anticipation in the meantime.

Spiderman across the spiderverse miles morales temporal paradox

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will take place one year after the events of the 2018 film, following Miles, Gwen, and a slew of multiversal Spider-People on a new adventure. It was confirmed early on that the follow-up to Into the Spider-Verse will be a two-part epic — a saga that takes Miles out of the comfort of his home reality and into the realities of other Spider-Heroes. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to release on June 2, 2023, and will be the directorial debuts of Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson.

The cast for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse includes Shameik Moore as Miles/Spider-Man, Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099, and Hawkeye’s Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman in this next new Spider-Man movie. This Miles Morales adventure will be followed by Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is expected to debut March 29th, 2024, with the same cast and has been described as the set-up for Seinfeld’s Spider-Woman-centered spinoff film.

Much more has been revealed about the cast and plot of the new next Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Along with the returning voice cast, there are also new characters, such as Hobie Brown/Spider-Punk, who will be voiced by Daniel Kaluuyaa (Get Out) and Issa Rae (Insecure) as Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman. New supervillains arrive as well, such as Jason Schwartzman's (Rushmore) Jonathan Ohnn/the Spot, who has interdimensional portals all across his body that allow him to travel to different universes. The plot of Across the Spider-Verse sees Gwen Stacy implore Miles Morales to save every universe of Spider-People from a mysterious new villain. The story and cast for its sequel, Beyond the Spider-Verse, has yet to be revealed.

Spider-Man’s comics villain Kraven the Hunter is making his live-action debut on October 6th, 2023, with Sony bringing to life his origin story in this next new Spider-Man movie. Directed by J.C. Chandor, Kraven the Hunter's movie follows Russian immigrant Sergei Kravinoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), whose goal is to prove that he is the world’s best hunter. Kraven’s live-action film introduction was also teased in a critical scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

As Doctor Strange tries to hold back more characters who know about Peter Parker from alternate universes, one yellow silhouetted figure is focused on. Marvel Comics fans quickly spotted that this figure was Kraven the Hunter, and was the perfect set-up to his new film. As a classic Spider-Man villain, it will be exciting to have him in his own live-action film, no matter if his actual foe in Kraven the Hunter is Peter Parker or not.

El Muerto - 2024

El Muerto

Marvel will see its first Latino character to lead their own film with the next new Spider-Man movie, El Muerto. Starring Grammy-winning artist Bad Bunny (Benito A Martinez Ocasio) as the titular antihero, El Muerto is based on the comic book figure of the same name whose powers as a luchador are passed down generationally, but can only be attained by defeating the family's oppressor — El Dorado.

El Muerto is the super alter-ego to Juan-Carlos Estrada Sanchez, and the film will be helmed by Mexican filmmaker and screenwriter Jonás Cuarón, son of legendary Roma director Alfonso Cuarón. El Muerto is related to Spider-Man via the comics, as he's given 10 years to prove his birthright, and in the process, he struggles to unmask the hero once and for all. It's possible that El Muerto could tie into Jon Watts' Spider-Man trilogy, but that remains to be seen. El Muerto will be hitting theaters on January 12, 2024.

Madame Web - 2024

Madame Web

One of Sony’s next Spider-Man movie developments is Madame Web, which was reportedly announced to be in the works in 2019. Collider reported that Sony hired Morbius writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless to write the script for a Spider-Man universe film centered on Madame Web, a clairvoyant mutant connected to a life support system shaped like a spider-web. The titular heroine will be played by Dakota Johnson. In addition, Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott have also been cast. The Spider-Man ally movie will also be directed by S.J. Clarkson. While no plot details have been disclosed, Madame Web does have an official release date of February 16th, 2024.

The Sinister Six - TBA

Spider-Man battles the Sinister Six

One of Spider-Man’s most highly-anticipated spin-off films, Sony has long had The Sinister Six in the works. The next Spider-Man movie will follow the team-up of six notable Spider-Man villains, which many believe may have been spoiled by No Way Home’s villain team-up of Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman, and Lizard. While it was believed that the film was going to be canceled upon Sony’s fixation on its MCU deal with Disney, Amy Pascal clarified in 2018 that The Sinister Six was still in the works, though she was waiting for director Drew Goddard “to be ready to direct it” as he also wrote the script (via Vanity Fair). There’s still no word on this new Spider-Man film spin-off's progress, but it’s not yet dead.

Venom 3 - TBA

Spider-Man No Way Home Venom MCU Exit Explained SR

Following the successes of both Venom films, Sony announced a third installment would be produced for Eddie Brock. Considering Venom/Eddie Brock was featured in the mid-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the MCU seems to be setting up the character’s introduction following 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Venom star Tom Hardy confirmed back in 2018 that he had signed on for Venom 3, while hinting that the next new Spider-Man movie would include the multiverse - a major theme of the MCU Phase 4. Andy Serkis has expressed interest in returning for Venom 3, with the director and Hardy kicking around villain ideas for the third installment. Pascal has revealed the film is already underway, with little to no details on a release date or plot.

Untitled Olivia Wilde Movie - TBA

While Olivia Wilde has only helmed and released two films to date, that hasn’t stopped her from becoming one of Hollywood’s most popular directors. The actress-turned-director is already attached to several movies post-Booksmart, and Sony has tapped into her talents for a female-led Spider-Man film, set to be one of the new upcoming Spider-Man movies. Wilde confirmed (via Twitter) in 2020 that a secret Marvel film was in the works, with later details rumoring the Sony movie to be about Spider-Woman. The Illuminerdi later reported in June 2021 that Wilde’s Marvel movie would follow Jessica Drew’s iteration of Spider-Woman, though the director has yet to confirm such details. Considering Wilde already has a busy schedule of upcoming films, it’s safe to say her Spider-Man movie won’t be released in the near future.

Spider-Man 4-6 - TBA

Tom Holland looking up in Spider-Man No Way Home

Although it was long suspected that Spider-Man: No Way Home would complete the Jon Watts trilogy and serve as a solo-movie sendoff for Holland’s Peter Parker, producer Amy Pascal turned around with the hopeful announcement that three more Spider-Man films were on the way. Very little is known about the Spider-Man sequel trilogy, but No Way Home left plenty of Easter eggs and storyline set-ups to hint at where the characters could go. At the end of No Way Home, MJ and Ned are set to go to MIT in the Fall, Peter decided against revealing himself to them again, and has created a new Spider-Man suit to continue his superheroics in New York City. With the Multiverse confirmed and Peter having already been mentored by two of the most iconic Spider-Men of all time, there are countless directions that the upcoming Spider-Man movies could take. While the MCU’s second trilogy isn’t officially confirmed nor is Tom Holland announced to reprise his Peter Parker role, Holland has voiced his opinion that he hopes the next Spidey movies after Spider-Man No Way Home are more diverse with its titular hero(es).
