Warning! Spoilers ahead for Moon Knight: Black, White & Blood #1
Marvel Comics' new Moon Knight: Black, White & Blood series proves that Spider-Man and Marc Spector deserve their own series. While the duo only gets a short story in this anthology issue, it's more than enough proof that their dynamic is incredibly fun and entertaining. Whether it's on the page or on-screen in the MCU, this new issue makes the perfect argument for why the two New York heroes should hang out more.
Following the success of other Black, White & Blood series starring the likes of Wolverine, Deadpool, Carnage, and Elektra, Moon Knight is a perfect fit to get his own bloody anthology series. The white suit naturally lends itself to the particular medium, especially for how often Marc Spector's brutality results in the spilling of blood (often his own).
The featured short story "So White, Yet So Dark" from Murewa Ayodele and Dotun Akande features a team-up with none other than Peter Parker (and it's absolutely perfect). Right off the bat, Spider-Man's humor and constant quips clash with Marc Spector's stoicism in the best way. It's very similar to the more classic Deadpool and Wolverine dynamic. Helping Moon Knight out so that Spector might fulfill a mysterious request the Webslinger has asked of him, the two work incredibly well together as they swing through New York City, stopping two Crimson Scarabs who had enchanted the god Anubis to do their bidding. Hilariously, Spider-Man had asked at the very beginning of the issue if Moon Knight was doing "Egyptian stuff", and it just so happens that this time Spector was. While Moon Knight may find Spider-Man annoying, there's no denying that a series starring the two heroes would be massively entertaining.
It's also fun that Peter Parker is wearing a variation of his spider suit seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home, supporting the idea that Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight could have some equally great dynamics with Tom Holland's Spider-Man in the MCU. It does seem like Marc's alter Steven Grant would get along great with Peter Parker (while Marc would continue to be his more brooding self). That being said, he does concede to Peter's request, letting Spider-Man borrow Mr. Knight's tailored suit for the upcoming Hellfire Gala.
While an MCU team-up may be too much to ask for, a limited comic series starring Moon Knight and Spider-Man certainly seems doable. This short story is certainly a great preview showing what it could look like. Clearly, Marc and Peter fighting side by side while Moon Knight tolerates Spider-Man's jokes has the makings of a great ongoing team-up in the Marvel Universe.
