Insomniac's Spider-Man: Miles Morales contains numerous secrets, collectibles, and hidden references. The game is rife with content, despite being billed as a spin-off, and some of the best discoveries come from the game's awesome Spider-Man suits, of which, the Programmable Matter Spider Suit is easily the best.

Even before Spider-Man: Miles Morales released, the internet was abuzz with talk about Miles' amazing wardrobe. The Into The Spider-Verse outfit got special attention thanks to the suit's ability to alter Miles' frame rate, making him move akin to his film counterpart. The effect is certainly cool, and just having Miles dressed up as one of his best incarnations sends chills, but the Into The Spider-Verse suit is still not the best.

The Programmable Matter Spider Suit in Spider-Man: Miles Morales unlocks after Miles clears out all the enemy bases and gives the retrieved information to Danika, the podcast host and investigative journalist. Danika informs Miles that the Tinkerer has a secret lab where she was working on a project involving programmable matter. Miles then goes to the lab and mods the equipment to his outfit, creating the Programmable Matter Spider Suit and unlocking a nifty new takedown in the process.

The Programmable Matter Suit's Takedown & Its Iron Man Origins

Spider-Man Miles Morales Programmable Matter Spider Suit Unique Takedown

The Programmable Matter Spider Suit in Spider-Man: Miles Morales is unique in that, not only does it look incredibly cool, but it also comes with an exclusive takedown. Sometimes, when finishing enemies, the suit morphs and creates spider-legs that demolish enemies. These spider-legs seamlessly come out of the outfit and honor the suits moniker, altering its matter to aid Miles in his fight.

The creative technology, and craftsmanship, required to create the Programmable Matter Spider Suit is especially appropriate given the suit's referential ties to Marvel's chief engineer, Tony Stark. Having spider-limbs come out of a suit to aid Spider-Man in a fight is a concept that was introduced in the comics and recently popularized by Avengers Infinity War. In the film, Tony Stark builds Spider-Man a metal suit akin to the Iron Man Armor. This new Iron Spider Suit features numerous advanced abilities, including spider legs to aid in combat and traversal. 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man contains this suit as an unlockable and even allows players to manually use the mechanical legs in combat. The Programmable Matter Spider Suit is clearly a reference to this classic Spider-Man suit.

This just feels like a taste of what is to come for the franchise. Spider-Man: Miles Morales' ending contains numerous clues for the upcoming sequel, and establishes Miles as a full-fledged Spider-Man. On top of these important story beats, it is also important to remember Miles' gift as a scientist and engineer, a truth cemented by the Programmable Matter Spider Suit. Who knows what new inventions Miles will deploy in the near future.
