At the Spider-Man: No Way Home world premiere, Jacob Batalon responded to whether he will reprise his role as Ned Leeds in future Spider-Man movies. Spider-Man: No Way Home is anticipated to become the next Christmas blockbuster, as the film has already broken pre-sale tickets records. Recently, producer Amy Pascal teased another Spider-Man trilogy from Sony and Disney starring Tom Holland's titular hero within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the MCU, Ned was introduced as Peter Parker’s best friend, who inadvertently discovers the identity of the titular hero while visiting Peter’s home to showcase his Death Star Lego model. Since then, Ned has played an imperative supporting character, appearing throughout the MCU Spider-Man franchise, along with being blipped during the Thanos snap with MJ (Zendaya) and Peter. In contrast to the films, Ned was a reporter for the Daily Bugle in the Marvel comics, who later was brainwashed to take on Hobgoblin’s mantle after discovering the hideout of the actual Hobgoblin.

With many fans speculating the arrival of Hobgoblin in the MCU, many have been speculation over whether Batalon will play the villainous role in the next trilogy. Moreover, with the return of the Green Goblin played by Willem Dafoe in Spider-Man: No Way Home, some believe it may be possible for Marvel to pave the way for Ned to be his successor. In a previous interview, Batalon shared that his character had endless possibilities and storylines to choose from to be developed in the MCU, with some viewers even comparing his character to Miles Morales' friend Ganke Lee. With the immeasurable amount of ideas on the table, Holland has recently even suggested a Spider-Man prequel film to explore Peter’s relationship with MJ and Ned.

Whether Batalon returns to the screen for the Spider-Man franchise or not, it is apparent that Batalon will continue to express his support and gratitude towards the films. Batalon’s portrayal of Ned has become a fan-favorite throughout the years, leading many eager to see him in future iterations of the web-slinging hero. If Ned were to take up a villain mantle in future after Spider-Man: No Way Home, it would certainly be a big switch from the funny and kind Friend of Spider-Man that fans know and love. However, it would no doubt be an interesting turn of events for Holland's hero.
