Spoilers for The Amazing Spider-Man #13 by Marvel Comics

Norman Osborn has officially become a hero in the Marvel Universe, as the long-time Spider-Man foe just donned the Gold Goblin armor for the first time while saving the web-slinger's life. In The Amazing Spider-Man #13 by Marvel Comics, Spider-Man is overwhelmed while battling the two Hobgoblins. With the hero seemingly about to die, Norman Osborn suits up as the Gold Goblin for the first time to help as he begins his new journey as a hero.

Famously, Norman Osborn is one of Spider-Man's most dangerous villains, as he's suited up as the Green Goblin to cause havoc in Peter Parker's life. However, with Osborn recently being cleansed of his sins, Norman is trying to prove he's reformed as a villain, hiring Parker and working alongside Spider-Man, giving him new tech while eagerly showing he's changed. While Spider-Man hasn't fully bought into Norman's shift from villain to hero, the former Green Goblin just proved he might be good after all, as he suits up in his Gold Goblin armor for the first time.

In The Amazing Spider-Man #13 by Zeb Wells, John Romita Jr., Scott Hanna, Marcio Menyz, and VC's Joe Caramagna, Spider-Man fights both Ned Leeds and Roderick Kingsley's Hobgoblins, as the pair of villains are revealed to be operating at the same time. Norman Osborn watches the battle from his hospital room. After Spider-Man is taken down and Hobgoblin is about to kill him with his glider, Osborn arrives on the scene in the Gold Goblin armor he previously built for Spider-Man - saving the hero before he's impaled.

Norman Osborn Is Truly Embracing Being A Hero

Without Norman Osborn suiting up in the Gold Goblin armor and going after the Hobgoblins, it's likely Spider-Man wouldn't have survived the encounter. With his quick thinking, Osborn might have finally convinced Peter Parker that his intentions are good and that he might be able to change after a life of villainy. At the very least, Spider-Man knows that Norman's ultimate goal isn't to kill him, as he could have easily died in his latest battle.

Norman Osborn becoming the Gold Goblin won't just be a one-off role for the former Green Goblin. In the upcoming Dark Web tie-in miniseries, Gold Goblin, Osborn will officially become a hero while trying to shed his dark past and move forward in his new role. While it might be strange to see the Spider-Man villain being a hero as the Gold Goblin, it might be the new normal for Norman Osborn. The Amazing Spider-Man #13 is in comic book stores now.
