Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 producer Christopher Miller cryptically teases news about the sequel is coming. Sony Animation delivered a smash hit in 2018 when Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was released. The animated movie followed Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and other characters from the so-called Spider-Verse. It received glowing reviews on its way to winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature and earning over $375 million worldwide. Unsurprisingly, Sony quickly moved forward with plans for a sequel.

There has been great anticipation for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 over the last three years. Audiences are eager to see what happens next with Miles' story and how Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld), Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson), and others will factor in. The sequel is also expected to payoff Into the Spider-Verse's post-credits tease of Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac) entering the multiversal adventures. Development on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 has been moving forward for the last several years as co-directors Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin Thompson work to deliver another groundbreaking animated movie.

Sony has yet to release any glimpses at Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 to the public, although some footage was shown to CinemaCon attendees earlier this year. With less than a year to go until the sequel's release date, it appears that some news might be on the horizon. Christopher Miller, who produced the first movie and worked on the sequel's script, cryptically teased movement on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 in a new tweet. It only contains two spider emojis and one spiderweb emoji, but that is all it took for speculation to mount that this is a tease for fans to prepare for something related to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 to arrive soon.

Miller isn't the only person involved with the sequel to tease that an update could come soon. Producer Amy Pascal mentioned in a recent interview that there will be a Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 update shortly. Miller could be feeding into the excitement that many have with this tweet, but it doesn't seem like he's trolling fans for fun. Instead, this cryptic tweet appears to be another sign that the first look at Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 could be right around the corner.

It won't be too surprising if Sony does debut a Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 trailer soon after Miller's tease. The studio has Spider-Man: No Way Home hitting theaters in a few weeks, so it would make sense for footage of the Into the Spider-Verse sequel to play in front of it. Meanwhile, Sony also has a 30-minute panel at Brazil's Comic-Con CCXP 2021 tomorrow, December 4. This could be a place for the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 trailer to debut or even a first look at Spider-Woman's (Issa Rae) design.
