The Hobgoblin is a popular Spider-Man villain who made their debut back in the early 1980s. The terrifying character has similar weapons and looks as the Green Goblin, as the original Hobgoblin, Roderick Kingsley, created his own version of the Goblin formula, which helped transform him into a villain. Several characters have assumed the identity of the Hobgoblin over time, with Peter Parker's co-worker at the Daily Bugle, Ned Leeds, being the second most familiar face in the pages of Marvel Comics to take on the role. Now, Spider-Man faces off against two Hobgoblins at once, as both their identities are revealed.
In The Amazing Spider-Man #12 by Zeb Wells, John Romita Jr., Scott Hanna, Marcio Menyz, and VC's Joe Caramagna from Marvel Comics, Spider-Man is reeling from an encounter with the Hobgoblin as he questions who is truly behind the mask. Spider-Man pays a visit to Ned Leeds, who is paranoid that the Hobgoblin is after him. The glider-riding villain then attacks the hero, and after fighting him and unmasking the Hobgoblin, it's revealed Roderick Kingsley is back in action. However, Spider-Man quickly learns two Hobgoblins are working together, as Kingsley brainwashed Leeds to serve with him.
Two Hobgoblins Working Together Is Bad News For Spider-Man
Spider-Man learning that there are two Hobgoblins, not just one, operating simultaneously makes his efforts to stop the deadly villain much more difficult. Unfortunately, Roderick Kingsley used the Winkler Device to brainwash Ned Leeds, making him the second Hobgoblin, while his human persona seems to have no idea he lives a double life. Convincing Ned about the truth won't be easy.
Stopping Roderick Kingsley and helping save Ned Leeds from his control will take all the firepower Spider-Man has, as taking down one Hobgoblin already represents a considerable challenge for the hero. Perhaps, Norman Osborn's Gold Goblin will assist in taking down the Hobgoblins and finally prove to Peter Parker that he's changed for good.
