Spider-Man: Far From Home is getting a theatrical re-release featuring four minutes of a new action sequence. The second movie to come from Marvel Studios and Sony's partnership, Spider-Man: Far From Home has been another big hit for all parties involved. The film had the difficult task of following up Avengers: Endgame and pushing the Marvel Cinematic Universe forward, and it managed to do that with some classic Spidey fun.

Audiences around the world have reacted incredibly positively to Spider-Man: Far From Home. After critics raved about the Jon Watts directed film, the movie earned an "A" Cinemascore shortly after its release. Fans have continued to return to theaters to see the movie, and it's now become Sony's highest-grossing movie of all-time. To celebrate that achievement, some new scenes from the film are going to hit theaters as part of a re-release.

Sony officially confirmed the news today that Spider-Man: Far From Home will receive approximately four additional minutes of footage. The extended version of the film will start playing in theaters across the United States and Canada starting August 29, and will stay in theaters over Labor Day weekend. The new footage consists of a "never-before-seen action sequence," and will be available to see in IMAX at select locations.

Spider-Man Far From Home Trailer

The re-release of Spider-Man: Far From Home will make it the second consecutive MCU film to receive an extra rollout. Avengers: Endgame received one earlier this year that only added bonus content after the credits, so this will be a different scenario with Spider-Man: Far From Home, as the new sequence will be added to the film itself. With a domestic gross of over $375 million, Sony may be attempting to push its record-setting film past the $400 million mark domestically.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is a movie that's filled with action, so it's possible that the additional four-minute sequence is from one of the film's many fights it already included. But, there's also an entire sequence confirmed to be left on the cutting room floor that was teased in the trailers that may just be the new footage. The trailers included one of Peter's last nights out in New York before leaving for vacation, and showed him stopping a gunfight before the cops. Watts previously said that this scene could be part of a short film attached to the Blu-Ray of Spider-Man: Far From Home, so its possible Sony decided to put it back into the movie to make this re-release possible. Either way, it won't be too long before anyone who's interested in an extended cut finds out what the new scene is.
