Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Far From Home is the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, but does it have a post-credits scene setting up a sequel and/or Phase 4 - and, if so, how many? The sequel to 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far From Home is Tom Holland's second solo outing as Peter Parker, but his fifth appearance in the MCU overall. However, the movie has more to do than simply continue the adventures of Spider-Man, it must also deal with the repercussions from Avengers: Endgame and conclude Marvel Studios' Phase 3. It's a lot to live up to. Thankfully, Spider-Man: Far From Home reviews seem to indicate Holland's Spidey is up to the task.
In the film, Holland is joined by returning stars Jacob Batalon as Peter's best friend Ned and Zendaya as MJ, along with MCU actors Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill. As seen in the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailers, Peter and his classmates go on a European vacation, but it's interrupted by Fury recruiting Spider-Man for a mission. After the death of Iron Man in Endgame, Spider-Man is needed to battle the Elementals along with Quentin Beck aka. Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) to save the world. However, while early Spider-Man: Far From Home reviews indicate it'll be a big hit with fans, viewers may be just as excited for the credits scenes as Phase 3 concludes and Phase 4 is set to begin.
Now that Spider-Man: Far From Home is hitting theaters around the world, moviegoers may be wondering whether they need to stick around through the very end of the movie. Spider-Man: Far From Home DOES have two post-credits scenes - one at the mid-credits point and one at the very end. While it's always worth it to watch the credits to get an idea of who's involved in the making of a movie, Far From Home viewers should know there are two scenes that play during the credits.
We won't spoil what exactly happens during these scenes (we'll explain the Spider-Man: Far From Home post-credits scenes another time). However, it should be noted that both credits scenes are key to setting up future MCU movies. The Far From Home mid-credits scene directly sets up Marvel's Spider-Man 3, while the post-credits scene has larger universe implications. Unlike MCU stingers in the past - where the mid-credits scene is important, but the end-credits one isn't - both of Spider-Man: Far From Home's post-credits scenes are necessary viewing.
With the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Marvel Studios' Phase 3 is officially complete and fans are no doubt looking forward to studio head Kevin Feige announcing their Phase 4 plans. For the first time in recent years, Marvel Studios has zero announced films on their slate, though we know Black Widow, The Eternals, Shang-Chi, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and other movies are all in various stages of development and production. It's unclear when exactly Marvel Studios will announce Phase 4 - whether at San Diego Comic-Con or D23 - but their plans will be made clear sometime this summer.
For now, MCU fans just need to know Spider-Man: Far From Home has two post-credits scenes and moviegoers should definitely stick around through the end for both of them.
