Spider-Man: Far From Home nabs a near-perfect CinemaScore. The final installment of Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 3 and The Infinity Saga had a rather smaller narrative compared to Avengers: Endgame. But that doesn't mean that it doesn't have any impact in the franchise moving forward. Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) recent solo outing lays the seeds for a string of potential narratives for the universe moving forward. And despite having to juggle a myriad of subplots risking feeling too convoluted, director Jon Watts and his team did a great job coming up with a balanced act.

The first film to tackle the aftermath of Endgame, Far From Home understandably had its work cut out for it. Aside from dealing with the ramifications of Thanos' (Josh Brolin) win and eventual loss, the flick also had to maintain the focus on Peter and his own journey. That includes his budding romance with MJ (Zendaya) and a new personal mission from Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), teaming him up with Quentin Beck/Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) - allegedly a hero from another dimension. Far From Home is packed-full of memorable moments and a string of unexpected plot twists, which fans seemingly enjoyed pretty well, at least according to the movie's CinemaScore rating.

CinemaScore announced on its official Twitter account that Far From Home got an impressive A rating - just a notch below the highest accolade of A+ that a film can get from the aggregating. This is the 16th consecutive movie from the MCU to land either an A or A+ rating, following Endgame's A+ rating. Its rating was also level below the critically-acclaimed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse which nabbed an A+ grade as well. Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Homecoming received a similar grade back in 2017.

Unlike other review aggregating sites, CinemaScore's data collection is more rigorous, somehow making its results a better gauge when it comes to finding out the public's general opinion on a movie. The site randomly selects people who have just seen a movie, and asks them to grade the movie using a standard A+ to F rating. This ensures that only opinions of those who've seen the film factor into their scoring system.

There was immense pressure for Far From Home to deliver since it follows up Marvel Studios' biggest film to date in Endgame. However, in the world of Spider-Man films, the bar of quality was significantly raised with last December's Into the Spider-Verse. Granted that the films don't have any narrative links, not to mention that they differ in format, comparisons were still inevitable. Even Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently admitted that he's glad they went with a more complex story for Spider-Man: Far From Home considering what its animated predecessor was able to do. Fortunately, it does seem like majority of the fans are thrilled with what they came up with.
