Sony's Spider-Man: Far From Home Blu-ray cover includes a quote referencing Avengers: Endgame amidst the falling out between the studio and Disney. The public was shocked when news broke that the collaboration between Sony and Marvel Studios over Spider-Man is coming to an end after they were unable to agree on new terms. This results in Peter Parker returning to his own universe, severing ties with the MCU, although it may have to wait a bit more to do that since its home entertainment marketing is using a quote referencing Endgame to promote its nearing release.
In 2015, Sony and Marvel Studios entered the historic deal that allowed Spider-Man to exist in the MCU. Debuting in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland's version of the character appeared in four more films, two Avengers movies - Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame - and two standalone projects: Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home. The latter is Sony's highest-grossing movie ever with more than $1 billion at the global box office. The team-up, however, won't be moving forward anymore, but Far From Home's Blu-ray is leaning on its Endgame link to market itself.
The official Spider-Man: Far From Home Blu-ray cover features a quote from the review of Peter Travers of Rolling Stone saying: “No endgame for Spidey—he’s flying higher than ever!” This refers to the fact that Endgame may have wrapped up the MCU's 22-film Infinity Saga, but the second Spider-Man standalone served as an epilogue, as well as a launching pad for future adventures for the web-slinging hero. It may not be too late for Sony and Disney to reach a new agreement, and fans are still holding out hope that something can still be done before the third Spider-Man solo film goes into active development. Far From Home left the titular hero at a dangerous place after his secret identity was revealed to the world thanks to J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) in the mid-credits scene, while the end stinger revealed that the Skrulls are back on Earth as Nick Fury worked on S.W.O.R.D. Assuming that the studios permanently part ways and don't renegotiate to make their partnership work moving forward, it'll be curious to see how future Spider-Man adventures shape up without any acknowledgement of the MCU.
There's a chance that the Blu-ray cover was designed before Sony and Disney's relationship soured, explaining the use of the quote referencing Avengers: Endgame on it. The review itself was written for Spider-Man: Far From Home's initial theatrical release, and since it leaned on the events of the culminating film, it makes sense that it included several references to its predecessor timeline-wise. However, with the ongoing turmoil regarding the character's future, it's quite jarring to see that specific quote front and center in the Spider-Man: Far From Home Blu-ray cover, especially when it's possible that the its events won't be mentioned in any future Spider-Man outings.
